“Is this garment of yours washed or a new one?” He said: “Rather it has been washed.” He said: “Ilbas jadida, wa ʿish hamida, wa mut shahida (May you wear new clothes, live a good life and die as martyr).”  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَأَى عَلَى عُمَرَ قَمِيصًا أَبْيَضَ فَقَالَ ثَوْبُكَ هَذَا غَسِيلٌ أَمْ جَدِيدٌ قَالَ لاَ بَلْ غَسِيلٌ قَالَ الْبَسْ جَدِيدًا وَعِشْ حَمِيدًا وَمُتْ شَهِيدًا  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ saw Umar wearing a white garment, so he said, "Is it new or washed?" Umar replied, "I don't know which one it is." The Prophet ﷺ then said, "Wear something new, live a good life, and die as a martyr." I think he also said, "And may Allah grant you delight in both this world and the hereafter."  

رَأَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَى عُمَرَ ثَوْبًا أَبْيَضَ فَقَالَ أَجَدِيدٌ ثَوْبُكَ أَمْ غَسِيلٌ؟ فَقَالَ فَلَا أَدْرِي مَا رَدَّ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْبَسْ جَدِيدًا وَعِشْ حَمِيدًا وَمُتْ شَهِيدًا أَظُنُّهُ قَالَ وَيَرْزُقُكَ اللهُ قُرَّةَ عَيْنٍ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ saw Umar ibn al-Khattab wearing a white garment and asked, "Is it new or washed?" Umar replied, "It is new." The Prophet ﷺ then said, "Wear new clothes, live a noble life, and die as a martyr."  

رَأَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ ثَوْبًا أَبْيَضَ فَقَالَ «أَجَدِيدٌ قَمِيصُكَ أَمْ غَسِيلٌ؟ » فَقَالَ بَلْ جَدِيدٌ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «الْبَسْ جَدِيدًا وَعِشْ حَمِيدًا وَمُتْ شَهِيدًا»  

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ saw Umar wearing a white shirt and said, "Is this a new shirt or has it been washed?" Umar replied, "It has been washed." The Prophet ﷺ then said, "Wear new clothes, live an honorable life, die as a martyr, and Allah will provide you with the coolness of your eyes in this world and the hereafter." Umar said, "And may it be so for you, O Messenger of Allah."  

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ رَأَى عَلَى عُمَرَ قَمِيصًا أَبْيَضَ فَقَالَ «أَجَدِيدٌ قَمِيصُكَ هَذَا أَمْ غَسِيلٌ؟» قَالَ بَلْ غَسِيلٌ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «الْبَسْ جَدِيدًا وَعِشْ حَمِيدًا وَمُتْ شَهِيدًا وَيَرْزُقُكُ اللهُ قُرَّةَ عَيْنٍ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ» قَالَ وَإِيَّاكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ
