"أَعَجَزْتُمْ -إذ بعثتُ رجلًا، فَلمْ يمضِ لأَمِري- أنْ تَجعلوا مَكانَهُ من يَمْضِى لأَمْرِى؟ ".
The Prophet ﷺ sent a detachment. I gave a sword to a man from among them. When he came back, he said: Would that you saw us how the Messenger of Allah ﷺ rebuked us, saying: When I sent out a man who does not fulfil my command, are you unable to appoint in his place one who will fulfil my command.
بَعَثَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ سَرِيَّةً فَسَلَحْتُ رَجُلاً مِنْهُمْ سَيْفًا فَلَمَّا رَجَعَ قَالَ لَوْ رَأَيْتَ مَا لاَمَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ أَعَجَزْتُمْ إِذْ بَعَثْتُ رَجُلاً مِنْكُمْ فَلَمْ يَمْضِ لأَمْرِي أَنْ تَجْعَلُوا مَكَانَهُ مَنْ يَمْضِي لأَمْرِي

[AI] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a military expedition and armed a man with a sword. When we returned, I did not see anything like what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had given to that man. He said, "Have you failed when I commanded you to appoint a man and he did not act upon my command or follow my prohibition?
بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ سَرِيَّةً فَسَلَّحَ رَجُلًا سَيْفًا فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفْنَا مَا رَأَيْتُ مِثْلَ مَا لَامَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «أَعَجَزْتُمْ إِذَا أَمَّرْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ رَجُلًا فَلَمْ يَمْضِ لِأَمْرِي الَّذِي أَمَرْتُ أَوْ نَهَيْتُ أَنْ تَجْعَلُوا مَكَانَهُ آخَرَ يُمْضِي أَمْرِي الَّذِي أَمَرْتُ؟ »
