"لا يَؤُم عَبْدٌ قَوْمًا إلا تَوَلَّى مَا كانَ عَلَيهِمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِمْ، فَإِنْ أَحْسَن فَلَهُ وَلَهُمْ، وَإنْ أَسَاءَ فَعَلَيهِ وَعَلَيهِمْ".
“Sahl bin Sa’d As-Sa’idi used to give preference to the young to lead his people in prayer. It was said to him: “Do you do that, when you have such seniority (in Islam)?” He said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘The Imam is responsible. If he does well, then he will have the reward and so will they, but if he does badly, then that will be counted against him but not against them.’”
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ الإِمَامُ ضَامِنٌ فَإِنْ أَحْسَنَ فَلَهُ وَلَهُمْ وَإِنْ أَسَاءَ يَعْنِي فَعَلَيْهِ وَلاَ عَلَيْهِمْ
[AI] "Narrated Anas: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: A slave does not lead a people in prayer but he will have what is upon them in their prayer, if he does good then he will have its reward, and if he does wrong then it will be on him."
وَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَا يَؤُمُّ عَبْدٌ قَوْمًا إِلَّا تَوَلَّى مَا كَانَ عَلَيْهِمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِمْ إِنْ أَحْسَنَ فَلَهُ وَإِنْ أَسَاءَ فَعَلَيْهِ
[AI] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "A slave does not lead a group of people in prayer, that he does not bear the responsibility of what they do in their prayers. If he prays well, he will have the reward, and if he prays badly, they will have the sin and he will bear their sin as well."
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا يَؤُمُّ عَبْدٌ قَوْمًا إِلَّا تَوَلَّى مَا كَانَ عَلَيْهِمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِمْ إِنْ أَحْسَنَ فَلَهُ وَإِنْ أَسَاءَ فَلَهُمْ وَعَلَيْهِ»
[AI] And he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "No slave leads a group in prayer except that he takes upon himself their responsibility in their prayer. If he performs it well, it is for him and for them. And if he does evil, it is on him and not on them."
وَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «لَا يَؤُمُّ عَبْدٌ قَوْمًا إلَّا تَوَلَّى مَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِمْ فَإِنْ أَحْسَنَ فَلَهُ وَلَهُمْ وَإِنْ أَسَاءَ فَعَلَيْهِ وَلَا عَلَيْهِمْ»
"الإِمَامُ ضَامِنٌ فَإِنْ أحْسَن فَلهُ ولَهُمْ، وَإِن أَسَاءَ فَعلَيه وَلَا عَليهم" .
