But as for the one who fights in order to show off and gain a reputation, and disobeys the imam and spreads mischief in the land, he comes back empty-handed." (Da 'if)
"Campaigns are of two types. But as for the one who fights to show off, and he disobeys the imam and does mischief in the land, he will not come back the same as when he left." [1] [1] It was not simply be the case that he comes back with no good deeds to his credit, rather he will have a number of evil deeds on his record.

[Machine] On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , he said, "There are two types of warriors. As for those who strive for the sake of Allah and obey their leader, spend generously, cooperate with their brethren, and refrain from corruption, then indeed, their sleep and awakening will be rewarded in full. As for those who engage in combat seeking honor, fame, and reputation, disobey their leader, and spread corruption in the land, they will not return with even a sufficient amount." This hadith is narrated by Al-Hadrami and in another narration by Muhammad ibn Wahb. Abu Hurairah narrated the ending and said, "If one disobeys the leader and does not spend generously, he will not return with sufficiency."
