17.60 Prohibitions as the ten of Dhu al-Hijjah enter

١٧۔٦٠ باب نهي من دخل عليه عشر ذي الحجة وأراد أن يضحي عن أخذ شيء من شعره أو أظفاره حتى يضحي

The prohibition, for one who enters the first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah and intends to offer a sacrifice, of removing anything from his hair or nails until he has offered the sacrifice.

نهي من دخل عليه عشر ذي الحجة وأراد أن يضحي عن أخذ شيء من شعره أو أظفاره حتى يضحي

Not cutting hair or nails before offering the sacrifice

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever has an animal for slaughter that he will slaughter, then when the crescent of Dhu al-Hijjah is sighted, he must not ˹clip˺ anything from his hair or from his nails until he offers the sacrifice."

(١٧٠٦) مسلم:١٩٧٧ز – وَحَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو اللَّيْثِيُّ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ عَمَّارِ بْنِ أُكَيْمَةَ اللَّيْثِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيَّبِ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ تَقُولُ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «مَنْ كَانَ لَهُ ذِبْحٌ يَذْبَحُهُ، فَإِذَا أُهِلَّ هِلاَلُ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ فَلاَ يَأْخُذَنَّ مِنْ شَعْرِهِ وَلاَ مِنْ أَظْفَارِهِ شَيْئًا حَتَّى يُضَحِّيَ».
