The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not wish to be like anyone except in two cases. (The first is) A person, whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it righteously; (the second is) the one whom Allah has given wisdom (the Holy Qur'an) and he acts according to it and teaches it to others." (1377) bukhari:1409Muḥammad b. al-Muthanná > Yaḥyá > Ismāʿīl > Qays > Ibn Masʿūd

I heard the Prophet ﷺ saying, "There is no envy except in two: a person whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it in the right way, and a person whom Allah has given wisdom (i.e. religious knowledge) and he gives his decisions accordingly and teaches it to the others."

(1377) bukhari:7141Shihāb b. ʿAbbād > Ibrāhīm b. Ḥumayd > Ismāʿīl > Qays > ʿAbdullāh

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not wish to be like anyone, except in two cases: (1) A man whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it righteously. (2) A man whom Allah has given wisdom (knowledge of the Qur'an and the Hadith) and he acts according to it and teaches it to others."

(1377) bukhari:7316Shihāb b. ʿAbbād > Ibrāhīm b. Ḥumayd > Ismāʿīl > Qays > ʿAbdullāh

Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not wish to be like anybody except in two cases: The case of a man whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it in the right way, and that of a man whom Allah has given religious wisdom (i.e., Qur'an and Sunna) and he gives his verdicts according to it and teaches it." (to others i.e., religious knowledge of Qur'an and Sunna (Prophet's Traditions)). "

(1378) bukhari:79Muḥammad b. al-ʿAlāʾ > Ḥammād b. Usāmah > Burayd b. ʿAbdullāh > Abū Burdah > Abū Mūsá

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The example of guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me is like abundant rain falling on the earth, some of which was fertile soil that absorbed rain water and brought forth vegetation and grass in abundance. (And) another portion of it was hard and held the rain water and Allah benefited the people with it and they utilized it for drinking, making their animals drink from it and for irrigation of the land for cultivation. (And) a portion of it was barren which could neither hold the water nor bring forth vegetation (then that land gave no benefits). The first is the example of the person who comprehends Allah's religion and gets benefit (from the knowledge) which Allah has revealed through me (the Prophets and learns and then teaches others. The last example is that of a person who does not care for it and does not take Allah's guidance revealed through me (He is like that barren land.)"

I swear on Allah, it will be better for you that Allah should give guidance to one man through your agency than that you should acquire the red ones among the camels.

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Convey (my teachings) to the people even if it were a single sentence, and tell others the stories of Bani Israel (which have been taught to you), for it is not sinful to do so. And whoever tells a lie on me intentionally, will surely take his place in the (Hell) Fire."

If anyone pursues a path in search of knowledge, Allah will thereby make easy for him a path to paradise; and he who is made slow by his actions will not be speeded by his genealogy.

He who called (people) to righteousness, there would be reward (assured) for him like the rewards of those who adhered to it, without their rewards being diminished in any respect. And he who called (people) to error, he shall have to carry (the burden) of its sin, like those who committed it, without their sins being diminished in any respect.

Kathir ibn Qays said: I was sitting with AbudDarda' in the mosque of Damascus. A man came to him and said: AbudDarda, I have come to you from the town of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for a tradition that I have heard you relate from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I have come for no other purpose. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: If anyone travels on a road in search of knowledge, Allah will cause him to travel on one of the roads of Paradise. The angels will lower their wings in their great pleasure with one who seeks knowledge, the inhabitants of the heavens and the Earth and the fish in the deep waters will ask forgiveness for the learned man. The superiority of the learned man over the devout is like that of the moon, on the night when it is full, over the rest of the stars. The learned are the heirs of the Prophets, and the Prophets leave neither dinar nor dirham, leaving only knowledge, and he who takes it takes an abundant portion.

The Prophet ﷺ said: He who is asked something he knows and conceals it will have a bridle of fire put on him on the Day of Resurrection.

The Prophet ﷺ said: If anyone acquires knowledge that should be sought seeking the Face of Allah, but he acquires it only to get some worldly advantage, he will not experience the arf, i.e. the fragrance, of Paradise.

Knowledge will be lifted by the passing away of scholars leaving behind ignorant people who will mislead others

(1392) bukhari:100Ismāʿīl b. Abū Ūways > Mālik > Hishām b. ʿUrwah from his father > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr b. al-ʿĀṣ

I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Allah does not take away knowledge by taking it away from the servants' ˹selves˺, rather he takes it away by the passage of the scholars until none of them remain. The people will take as their leaders ignorant persons who when consulted will give their verdict without knowledge. So they will go astray and will lead the people astray."
