Al-Fadl was riding behind the Prophet ﷺ and a woman from the tribe of Khath'am came up. Al-Fadl started looking at her and she looked at him. The Prophet ﷺ turned Al-Fadl's face to the other side. She said, "My father has come under Allah's obligation of performing Hajj but he is a very old man and cannot sit properly on his Mount. Shall I perform Hajj on his behalf? The Prophet ﷺ replied in the affirmative. That happened during Hajjat-al-Wadaʿ of the Prophet ﷺ .

جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمَ عَامَ حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ فِي الْحَجِّ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لاَ يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يَقْضِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ

A woman from the tribe of Khath'am asked for the verdict of Messenger of Allah ﷺ (regarding something) during Hajjat-ul-Wadaʿ while Al-Fadl bin ʿAbbas was the companion-rider behind Messenger of Allah ﷺ. She asked, "Allah's ordained obligation (i.e. compulsory Hajj) enjoined on His slaves has become due on my old father who cannot sit firmly on the riding animal. Will it be sufficient if I perform the Hajj on his behalf?" He said, "Yes."

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمَ اسْتَفْتَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ وَالْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رَدِيفُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لاَ يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يَقْضِي أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ

a woman from Khath'am asked the Prophet on the morning of the Day of Sacrifice: "O Messenger of Allah! The command of Allah to His slaves to perform Hajj has come, while my father is an old man and cannot sit firmly in the saddle. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He said: "Yes. "

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمَ سَأَلَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ غَدَاةَ جَمْعٍ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَرِيضَةُ اللَّهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لاَ يَسْتَمْسِكُ عَلَى الرَّحْلِ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ

"A man from Khath'am came to the Messenger of Allah and said: 'My father is an old man who cannot ride, and the command of Allah to perform Hajj has come. Will it be good enough if I perform Hajj on his behalf?' He said: 'Are you the oldest of his children?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Don't you think that if he owed a debt you would pay it off?, He' said: 'Yes.' He said: 'then perform Hajj on his behalf.'''(Daif)

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أَبِي شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ لاَ يَسْتَطِيعُ الرُّكُوبَ وَأَدْرَكَتْهُ فَرِيضَةُ اللَّهِ فِي الْحَجِّ فَهَلْ يُجْزِئُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ قَالَ آنْتَ أَكْبَرُ وَلَدِهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ أَكُنْتَ تَقْضِيهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَحُجَّ عَنْهُ

He was riding behind the Messenger of Allah [SAW] on the morning of the Day of Sacrifice, when a woman from Khath'am came to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, the command of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, to His slaves to perform Hajj has come while my father is an old man and cannot ride unless he is tied crossways on a mount; can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He said: "Yes, perform Hajj on his behalf, for if he owed a debt you would pay it off for him."

أَنَّهُ كَانَ رَدِيفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ غَدَاةَ النَّحْرِ فَأَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللَّهِ ﷻ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لاَ يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَرْكَبَ إِلاَّ مُعْتَرِضًا أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ حُجِّي عَنْهُ فَإِنَّهُ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ قَضَيْتِيهِ

"Al-Fadl bin 'Abbas was riding behind the Messenger of Allah [SAW] when a woman from Khath'am came to ask him a question. Al-Fadl started looking at her, and she at him, and the Messenger of Allah [SAW] turned the face of Al-Fadl the other way. She said: 'O Messenger of Allah, the command of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, to His slaves to perform Hajj has come while my father is an old man, and he cannot sit firmly in the saddle; can I perform Hajj on his behalf?' He said: 'Yes.' That was during the Farewell Pilgrimage."

كَانَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رَدِيفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَجَاءَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ تَسْتَفْتِيهِ فَجَعَلَ الْفَضْلُ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهَا وَتَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ وَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَصْرِفُ وَجْهَ الْفَضْلِ إِلَى الشِّقِّ الآخَرِ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللَّهِ ﷻ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ فِي الْحَجِّ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لاَ يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَثْبُتَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ وَذَلِكَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ

“O Messenger of Allah, my father is an old man who has become weak, and now the command of Allah has come for His slaves to perform Hajj, but he cannot do it. Will it discharge his duty if I perform it on his behalf?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Yes.”

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ جَاءَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَبِي شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ قَدْ أَفْنَدَ وَأَدْرَكَتْهُ فَرِيضَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ فِي الْحَجِّ وَلاَ يَسْتَطِيعُ أَدَاءَهَا فَهَلْ يُجْزِئُ عَنْهُ أَنْ أُؤَدِّيَهَا عَنْهُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَعَمْ

“O Messenger of Allah, the command of Allah has come for His slaves to perform Hajj, but my father is an old man and cannot ride. May I perform Hajj on his behalf?” He said: “Yes, because if your father owed a debt you would pay it off.”

أَنَّهُ كَانَ رِدْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ غَدَاةَ النَّحْرِ فَأَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللَّهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لاَ يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَرْكَبَ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَإِنَّهُ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أَبِيكِ دَيْنٌ قَضَيْتِيهِ

[AI] He was in the company of the Prophet ﷺ during the Farewell Hajj. A woman from Khath'am came and said, "I have fulfilled my obligation to Allah in performing Hajj, but my elderly father cannot ride on his mount and has not performed Hajj. Should I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He replied, "Yes." Abu Muhammad asked, "Do you say this?" He replied, "Yes."

أَنَّهُ كَانَ رَدِيفَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمَ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللَّهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَمْسِكُ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ وَلَمْ يَحُجَّ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ» سُئِلَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد «تَقُولُ بِهَذَا؟» قَالَ «نَعَمْ»

"A man from Khath'am came to the Messenger of Allah and said: 'My father is an old man who cannot ride, and the command of Allah to perform Hajj has come. جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أَبِي أَدْرَكَهُ الْإِسْلَامُ وَهُوَ شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ رُكُوبَ الرَّحْلِ وَالْحَجُّ مَكْتُوبٌ عَلَيْهِ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ «أَنْتَ أَكْبَرُ وَلَدِهِ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أَبِيكَ دَيْنٌ فَقَضَيْتَهُ عَنْهُ أَكَانَ ذَلِكَ يُجْزِئُ عَنْهُ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَاحْجُجْ عَنْهُ»

[AI] A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Indeed, my father is an old man who is unable to perform Hajj." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Have you considered if your father had a debt and you paid it off, would that be accepted from him?" He replied, "Yes." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah is more merciful to perform Hajj on behalf of your father."

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أَبِي شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَحُجَّ قَالَ «أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أَبِيكَ دَيْنٌ فَقَضَيْتَهُ عَنْهُ قُبِلَ مِنْهُ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «اللَّهُ أَرْحَمُ حُجَّ عَنْ أَبِيكَ»

a man asked the Prophet "The command of ) Hajj has come while my father is an old man and cannot sit firmly in his saddle; if I tie him (to the saddle) I fear that he will die. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He said: "don't you think that if your father owed a debt and you paid it off, that would be good enough?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Then perform Hajj on behalf of your father. " (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2640)

a woman from Khath'am asked the Prophet on the morning of the Day of Sacrifice: "O Messenger of Allah! [AI] A woman from the tribe of Khath'am asked the Prophet ﷺ during the Farewell Hajj, and Al-Fadl bin Abbas, the cousin of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, was sitting next to him. She said, "O Messenger of Allah, the obligation of Hajj has befallen upon my father who is an old man and unable to hold onto the reins of the camel. Should I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He replied, "Yes, perform Hajj on behalf of your father."

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمَ سَأَلَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ وَالْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رَدِيفُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَمْسِكَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ نَعَمْ حُجِّي عَنْ أَبِيكِ

"A man from Khath'am came to the Messenger of Allah and said: 'My father is an old man who cannot ride, and the command of Allah to perform Hajj has come. [AI] A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Indeed, my father is an old man who is unable to perform Hajj." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Have you ever thought about paying off any of your father's debts? If you did, wouldn't it be accepted from you?" The man replied, "Yes." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "Verily, Allah is more merciful in fulfilling the duty of Hajj on behalf of your father."

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أَبِي شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَحُجَّ قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَكَ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أَبِيكَ دَيْنٌ فَقَضَيْتَهُ عَنْهُ قُبِلَ مِنْكَ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ ﷺ فَاللهُ أَرْحَمُ حُجَّ عَنْ أَبِيكَ

[AI] A man asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ : "O Messenger of Allah, my father embraced Islam when he was old and weak. If I were to take him on a journey, I fear that I would end up causing his death. And if I don't take him, he won't be able to perform the obligations of Hajj. Should I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Have you ever thought if your father had a debt, would you pay it off for him?" The man replied, "Yes." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, "Then perform Hajj on his behalf."

أَنْ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أَبِي دَخَلٍ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ وَهُوَ شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ فَإِنْ أَنَا شَدَدْتُهُ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِي خَشِيتُ أَنْ أَقْتُلَهُ وَإِنْ لَمْ أَشُدَّهُ لَمْ يَثْبُتْ عَلَيْهَا أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَرَأَيْتَ لَوَ كَانَ عَلَى أَبِيكَ دَيْنٌ فَقَضَيْتَهُ عَنْهُ أَكَانَ يُجْزِئُ عَنْهُ» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَاحْجُجْ عَنْ أَبِيكَ»

[AI] "A woman from the tribe of Khath'am asked the Prophet ﷺ and Al-Fadl was sitting next to him. She said, 'O Messenger of Allah, the obligation of Hajj has come upon my father, and he is an elderly man. If I support him on his mount, will this count as fulfilling the obligation?' He ﷺ replied, 'Yes, you will fulfill your obligation by performing Hajj on his behalf.'"

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ سَأَلْتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَالْفَضْلُ رَدِيفُهُ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي وَهُوَ شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ إِنْ شَدُّوهُ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ لَمْ يَسْتَمْسِكْ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ حُجِّي عَنْهُ»

[AI] A woman from Khath'am came to the Prophet ﷺ during his farewell pilgrimage and asked, "O Prophet of Allah, indeed the obligation of Allah upon his servants during Hajj has overtaken my elderly father who is not able to ride a camel. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Yes."

جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ تَسْتَفْتِي النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَامَ حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَقَالَتْ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ فِي الْحَجِّ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يُغْنِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ «نَعَمْ»

[AI] A woman from the Khath'am tribe consulted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the obligation of Allah in Hajj upon His servants. She mentioned that her elderly father was unable to travel on a riding animal. She asked if she could perform Hajj on his behalf. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "Yes."

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ اسْتَفْتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يُغْنِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «نَعَمْ»

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet that a woman from Khath'am asked him a question regarding the Farewell Pilgrimage. She said, "O Messenger of Allah, indeed the obligation of Allah upon His servants in Hajj has reached my elderly father. He is unable to ride on a mount. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He replied, "Yes."

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ اسْتَفْتَتْهُ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يَقْضِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ لَهَا «نَعَمْ»

[AI] A woman from Khath'am consulted the Prophet ﷺ during the Farewell Pilgrimage and said, "O Messenger of Allah, the obligation of Allah in Hajj has become difficult for His servants, as my old father is unable to ride on a mount. Can I perform the Hajj on his behalf?" He replied, "Yes."

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ اسْتَفْتَتِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ فَهَلْ يَقْضِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ لَهَا «نَعَمْ»

[AI] "O Messenger of Allah, indeed the obligation of Allah in regards to Hajj has reached my elderly father who is unable to travel. Can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "Yes."

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ هَلْ يَقْضِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «نَعَمْ»

[AI] "O Messenger of Allah, my father is an old man who is unable to perform Hajj. Should I perform Hajj on his behalf?" So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Have you ever considered if your father had a debt and you paid it off, would it fulfill his obligation?" He replied, "Yes." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Then perform Hajj on his behalf."

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَبِي شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ الْحَجَّ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أَبِيكَ دَيْنٌ فَقَضَيْتَهُ أَكَانَ يُجْزِئُ عَنْهُ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ «حُجَّ عَنْهُ»

He was riding behind the Messenger of Allah [SAW] on the morning of the Day of Sacrifice, when a woman from Khath'am came to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, the command of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, to His slaves to perform Hajj has come while my father is an old man and cannot ride unless he is tied crossways on a mount; can I perform Hajj on his behalf?" He said: "Yes, perform Hajj on his behalf, for if he owed a debt you would pay it off for him." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 5389)

أَنَّهُ كَانَ رَدِيفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ غَدَاةَ النَّحْرِ فَأَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَرْكَبَ إِلَّا مُعْتَرِضًا أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ حُجِّي عَنْهُ» قَالَ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ قَضَيْتِيهِ

[AI] A man from Khaitham came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, my father has embraced Islam, but he is an elderly man who cannot ride a camel. The obligation of Hajj (pilgrimage) is prescribed on him, so should I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Are you his eldest son?" He replied, "Yes." The Prophet ﷺ then asked, "What if your father had a debt, and you paid it off, would that suffice?" He answered, "Yes." The Prophet ﷺ then advised, "Then perform Hajj on his behalf." There was a difference of opinion regarding this matter, and it was resolved by Mansur. Jareer ibn Abd al-Hamid narrated the incident in this manner.

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبِي أَدْرَكَ الْإِسْلَامَ وَهُوَ شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ رُكُوبَ الرَّحْلِ وَالْحَجُّ مَكْتُوبٌ عَلَيْهِ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ قَالَ أَنْتَ أَكْبَرُ وَلَدِهِ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ عَلَى أَبِيكَ دَيْنٌ فَقَضَيْتَهُ أَكَانَ ذَلِكَ يجْزِئُ؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَاحْجُجْ عَنْهُ اخْتُلِفَ فِي هَذَا عَلَى مَنْصُورٍ فَرَوَاهُ جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ هَكَذَا

"عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ الزُّبيْرِ قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ خَثْعَم إِلَى النَّبِىِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ الله: إِنَّ أَبِى أَدْرَكَهُ الإِسْلاَمُ وَهُوَ شَيْخٌ كبِيرٌ لاَ يَسْتَطِيعُ رُكُوبَ الرَّحْلِ، وَالحَجُّ مَكْتُوبٌ عَلَيْهِ، أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ: أَنْتَ أَكْبَرُ وَلَدِهِ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أَبِيكَ دَيْنٌ فَقَضَيْتَهُ أَكَانَ يُجْزِى عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: فَحُجَّ عَنْهُ".

"عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: أَتَى رَجُلٌ النَّبِىَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ أَبِى شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ لَمْ يَحُجَّ أَفَأَحُجّ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ: لَوْ كَانَ عَلَى أَبِيكَ دَيْن فَقَضَيْتَهُ عَنْهُ أَكانَ يَجْزِى عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: حُجَّ عَنْهُ".
