"Many people were wounded on the day of Uhud and complaints were made to the Messenger of Allah about that. He said: 'Dig graves and make them good and wide, and bury two or three in a grave, and put in first the one who knew the Qur'an most."'

اشْتَدَّ الْجِرَاحُ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ فَشُكِيَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ احْفِرُوا وَأَوْسِعُوا وَأَحْسِنُوا وَادْفِنُوا فِي الْقَبْرِ الاِثْنَيْنِ وَالثَّلاَثَةَ وَقَدِّمُوا أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا

"Dig graves and dig them well, and bury two or three (together), and put in first the one who knew the Qur'an most."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ احْفِرُوا وَأَحْسِنُوا وَادْفِنُوا الاِثْنَيْنِ وَالثَّلاَثَةَ وَقَدِّمُوا أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا

"My father was killed on the day of Uhud, and the Prophet said: 'Dig graves and make them good and wide, and bury two or three in a grave, and put in first the one who knew the Qur'an most.' My father was the third of three, and the one who knew the Qur'an most was placed (in the grave) first."

النَّبِيُّ ﷺ احْفِرُوا وَأَوْسِعُوا وَأَحْسِنُوا وَادْفِنُوا الاِثْنَيْنِ وَالثَّلاَثَةَ فِي الْقَبْرِ وَقَدِّمُوا أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا فَكَانَ أَبِي ثَالِثَ ثَلاَثَةٍ وَكَانَ أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا فَقُدِّمَ

"On the day of Uhud, the wounded complained to the Messenger of Allah, so he said: 'Dig, and make it wide, and appropriate, and bury two and three in one grave. And advance the one who knew the most Qu'ran.' My father had died so he placed before two men."

شُكِيَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ الْجِرَاحَاتُ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ فَقَالَ احْفِرُوا وَأَوْسِعُوا وَأَحْسِنُوا وَادْفِنُوا الاِثْنَيْنِ وَالثَّلاَثَةَ فِي قَبْرٍ وَاحِدٍ وَقَدِّمُوا أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا فَمَاتَ أَبِي فَقُدِّمَ بَيْنَ يَدَىْ رَجُلَيْنِ

"On the day of Uhud, the wounded complained to the Messenger of Allah, so he said: 'Dig, and make it wide, and appropriate, and bury two and three in one grave. And advance the one who knew the most Qu'ran.' My father had died so he placed before two men." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 1713)

شَكَوْا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ مَا بِهِمْ مِنَ الْقَرْحِ فَقَالَ احْفِرُوا وَأَحْسِنُوا وَأَوْسِعُوا وَادْفِنُوا الِاثْنَيْنِ وَالثَّلَاثَةَ فِي الْقَبْرِ وَقَدِّمُوا أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا فَمَاتَ أَبِي فَقُدِّمَ بَيْنَيَدَيْ رَجُلَيْنِ

[Machine] The wounds intensified on the day of Uhud, so they complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the wounds. He said, "Dig and enlarge and clean and bury the two and three in the grave, and present the majority of them with the Qur'an." So they presented my father (Abi) between the hands of two men.

اشْتَدَّتِ الْجِرَاحَاتُ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ فَشَكَوْا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْجِرَاحَاتِ فَقَالَ «احْفِرُوا وَأَوْسِعُوا وَأَحْسِنُوا وَادْفِنُوا الِاثْنَيْنِ وَالثَّلَاثَةَ فِي الْقَبْرِ وَقَدِّمُوا أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا» فَقَدَّمُوا أَبِي بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَجُلَيْنِ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Dig and make it good and spacious, and bury two or three bodies in one grave, and prioritize those who have memorized the most Quran." My father Abu Bayyan was mentioned in the chain of narration of this hadith by Abd al-Warith, who added to its chain Abu Duhma.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «احْفِرُوا وَأَحْسِنُوا وَأَوْسِعُوا وَادْفِنُوا الِاثْنَيْنِ وَالثَّلَاثَةَ فِي قَبْرٍ وَقَدِّمُوا أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا» فَقُدِّمَ أَبِي بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَجُلَيْنِ زَادَ عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ فِي إِسْنَادِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ أَبَا الدَّهْمَاءِ

"On the day of Uhud the people were exhausted. The Prophet said: 'Dig graves and make them wide, and bury two or three in a grave.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, who should we 'put in first? He said: 'Put in first the one who knew the Qur'an most."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2015)

النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «احْفِرُوا وَأَوْسِعُوا وَادْفِنُوا الِاثْنَيْنِ وَالثَّلَاثَةَ فِي قَبْرٍ» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَمَنْ نُقَدِّمُ؟ قَالَ «قَدِّمُوا أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا»

[Machine] "That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Dig and widen, do good and bury the two or the three, and send forth the majority of them with the Qur'an. Abu Bayn was sent forth by two men, said the judge, Abu Hisham ibn Amir was killed on the Day of Uhud.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ احْفِرُوا وَأَوْسِعُوا وَأَحْسِنُوا وَادْفِنُوا الِاثْنَيْنِ وَالثَّلَاثَةَ وَقَدِّمُوا أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا فَقُدِّمَ أَبِي بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَجُلَيْنِ قَالَ الْقَاضِي قُتِلَ أَبُو هِشَامِ بْنُ عَامِرٍ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ

"أحفروا، وأعمِقُوا، وأوسعوا، وأحْسنوا، وادْفنوا الاثنين والثلاثة في قبرٍ واحدٍ، وقدموا أكثرهُمْ قرآنًا".

"عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: قَال رسُولُ الله ﷺ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ: احْفِرُوا وأَعْمِقُوا وَأَوْسِعُوا وَأَحْسِنُوا وَادْفِنُوا الاِثْنَيْنِ والثَّلاَثَةَ فِى قَبْرٍ وَاحِدٍ، وَقَدِّمُوا أَكثَرهُم قُرآنًا".
