"I saw 'Umar bin Al-Khattab praying two rak'ahs in Dhul-Hulaifah and I asked him about that. He said: 'I am simply doing that which I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ doing.'" (Using translation from Nasāʾī 1437)  

الكبرى للنسائي:١٩٠٨ – أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُمَيْرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ حَبِيبَ بْنَ عُبَيْدٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ السِّمْطِ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ يُصَلِّي بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ

«إِنَّمَا أَفْعَلُ كَمَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَفْعَلُ»

ahmad:13113 – Yazīd b. Hārūn > Hammām > Anas b. Sīrīn

AbuSa'id said: I saw Wathilah ibn al-Asqa' in the mosque of Damascus. He spat at the mat and then rubbed it with his foot. He was asked: Why did you do so? He said: Because I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ doing so. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 484)   

أحمد:١٣١١٣ – حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا هَمَّامٌ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَ تَلَقَّيْنَا أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ حِينَ قَدِمَ مِنَ الشَّامِ فَلَقِينَاهُ بِعَيْنِ التَّمْرِ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى دَابَّتِهِ لِغَيْرِ الْقِبْلَةِ فَقُلْنَا لَهُ إِنَّكَ تُصَلِّي إِلَى غَيْرِ الْقِبْلَةِ فَقَالَ

لَوْلَا أَنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ مَا فَعَلْتُ

[Machine] And he said, "I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ doing as you have seen me doing."
