Umar, do not get back what you gave as charity.
أَنَّ عُمَرَ حَمَلَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ رَآهَا تُبَاعُ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَشْتَرِيَهَا فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ يَا عُمَرُ
Umar, do not get back what you gave as charity.
أَنَّ عُمَرَ حَمَلَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ رَآهَا تُبَاعُ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَشْتَرِيَهَا فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ يَا عُمَرُ
Once I gave a horse (for riding) in Allah's Cause. Later I saw it being sold. I asked Messenger of Allah ﷺ (whether I could buy it). He said, "Don't buy it, for you should not get back what you have given in charity."
عُمَرُ ؓ حَمَلْتُ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُبَاعُ فَسَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لاَ تَشْتَرِ وَلاَ تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ
Once ʿUmar gave a horse in charity to be used in holy fighting. It had been given to him by Allah's Apostle . ʿUmar gave it to another man to ride. Then ʿUmar was informed that the man put the horse for sale, so he asked Messenger of Allah ﷺ whether he could buy it. Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "You should not buy it, for you should not take back what you have given in charity."
أَنَّ عُمَرَ حَمَلَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ لَهُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَعْطَاهَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِيَحْمِلَ عَلَيْهَا رَجُلاً فَأُخْبِرَ عُمَرُ أَنَّهُ قَدْ وَقَفَهَا يَبِيعُهَا فَسَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ يَبْتَاعَهَا فَقَالَ لاَ تَبْتَعْهَا وَلاَ تَرْجِعَنَّ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ
I gave a horse to be used in Allah's Cause, but later on I saw it being sold. I asked the Prophet ﷺ whether I could buy it. He said, "Don't buy it and don't take back your gift of charity."
عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ حَمَلْتُ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُبَاعُ فَسَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ آشْتَرِيهِ فَقَالَ لاَ تَشْتَرِهِ وَلاَ تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ
ʿUmar gave a horse to be used in Allah's Cause, but later on he found it being sold. So, he intended to buy it and asked Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said, "Don't buy it and don't take back your gift of charity."
أَنْ يَبْتَاعَهُ فَسَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لاَ تَبْتَعْهُ وَلاَ تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ
ʿUmar bin Al-Khattab gave a horse to be ridden in Allah's Cause and then he found it being sold. He intended to purchase it. So, he consulted Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said, "Don't buy it and don't take back your gift of charity."
أَنْ يَبْتَاعَهُ فَسَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لاَ تَبْتَعْهُ وَلاَ تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ
Don't buy that and do not get back what you gave in charity.
أَنْ يَبْتَاعَهُ فَسَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ لاَ تَبْتَعْهُ وَلاَ تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ
‘Umar bin Al Khattab gave a horse as alms in the way of Allah. He then found it being sold, and intended to buy it. So he asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about this. He said Do not buy it, and do not take back your sadaqah.
أَنْ يَبْتَاعَهُ فَسَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ لاَ تَبْتَعْهُ وَلاَ تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ

he gave someone a horse to ride in the cause of Allah, then he saw it offered for sale and wanted to buy it. The Prophet said to him: "Do not think of buying back what you have given in charity."
أَنَّهُ حَمَلَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَرَآهَا تُبَاعُ فَأَرَادَ شِرَاءَهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لاَ تَعْرِضْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ
'Umar give a house in charity for the sake of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, and he found it being offered for sale after that. He wanted to buy it, then he went to the Messenger of Allah and asked him about that. The Messenger of Allah said: "Do not take back what you have given in charity."
أَنَّ عُمَرَ تَصَدَّقَ بِفَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ﷻ فَوَجَدَهَا تُبَاعُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَشْتَرِيَهُ ثُمَّ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَاسْتَأْمَرَهُ فِي ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لاَ تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ
ʿLeave it, and it (its reward) will come to you or you will have them all (i.e., the reward of all of them).ʿ On one occasion he said: He told him not to (buy it) and he said: “Do not buy it and do not take back your charity.ʿ
عَنْ أَبِيهِأَنَّ عُمَرَ حَمَلَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ ﷻ فَرَآهَا أَوْ بَعْضَ نِتَاجِهَا يُبَاعُ فَأَرَادَ شِرَاءَهُ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ اتْرُكْهَا تُوَافِكَ أَوْ تَلْقَهَا جَمِيعًا وَقَالَ مَرَّةً فَنَهَاهُ وَقَالَ لَا تَشْتَرِهِ وَلا تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ
He found a horse that he had given to someone (for jihad) for the sake of Allah being offered for sale in the marketplace, and he wanted to buy it. He asked the Prophet ﷺ [about that] and he told him not to do that and said: “Do not take back your charity.ʿ
أَنَّهُ وَجَدَ فَرَسًا كَانَ حَمَلَ عَلَيْهَا فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ تُبَاعُ فِي السُّوقِ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَشْتَرِيَهَا فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَنَهَاهُ وَقَالَ لَا تَعُودَنَّ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ
[AI] Omar ibn Al-Khattab rode a horse in the path of Allah and found it being sold, so he asked the Prophet ﷺ about its price. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not consider it as part of your charity."
أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ حَمَلَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ فَوَجَدَهَا تُبَاعُ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْ شِرَائِهَا؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَا تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ
Umar gave a horse to be used in the cause of Allah. Then he saw it being sold, so he wanted to buy it, but the Prophet said: "Do not take back what you have given in charity." (Using translation from Tirmidhī 668)
أَنَّ عُمَرَ حَمَلَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ لَهُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ ثُمَّ رَآهَا تُبَاعُ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَشْتَرِيَهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ
[AI] "That Umar was riding a horse and Umar ibn Al-Khattab, the messenger of Allah, gave it to him so that a man could ride on it. Umar was then informed that he had stopped selling her. He asked the Prophet about this and the Prophet said, 'Do not buy her and do not count it as charity.'"
أَنَّ عُمَرَ حَمَلَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فَأَعْطَاهَا عُمَرُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لِيَحْمِلَ عَلَيْهَا رَجُلًا فَأُخْبِرَ عُمَرُ أَنَّهُقَدْ وَقَفَهَا يَبِيعُهَا قَالَ فَسَأَلَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَبْتَاعُهَا قَالَ لَا تَبْتَعْهَا وَلَا تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ
[AI] That Umar rode on a horse in the path of Allah, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave him a man, so Umar came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Shall I sell the horse on which I rode?" He said, "Do not sell it and do not take back your charity."
أَنَّ عُمَرَ حَمَلَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ فَأَعْطَاهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَجُلًا فَجَاءَ عُمَرُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَبْتَاعُ الْفَرَسَ الَّذِي حَمَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ لَا تَبْتَعْهُ وَلَا تَرْجِعْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ
Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi from Abdullah ibn Umar that Umar ibn al-Khattab gave a horse to carry some one in the way of Allah, and then he wished to buy it back. So he asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about it, and he said, "Do not buy or take back your sadaqa."
أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ حَمَلَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَبْتَاعَهُ فَسَأَلَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لاَ تَبْتَعْهُ وَلاَ تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ

أَنْ يَبْتَاعَهُ فَسَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ «لَا تَبْتَعْهُ وَلَا تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ»
[AI] That Umar ibn Al-Khattab gave charity to a man with a horse in the path of Allah, then he found Umar selling it. So he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I gave charity to so-and-so with a horse, and I found him selling it. Should I buy it?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not buy it and do not count it as part of your charity."
أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ تَصَدَّقَ عَلَى رَجُلٍ بِفَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ فَوَجَدَهُ عُمَرُ يَبِيعُهَا فَأَتَى إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي تَصَدَّقْتُ عَلَى فُلَانٍ بِفَرَسٍ وَإِنِّي وَجَدْتُهُ يَبِيعُهَا أَفَأَشْتَرِيهَا؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا تَشْتَرِهَا وَلَا تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ»
he gave someone a horse to ride in the cause of Allah, then he saw it offered for sale and wanted to buy it. The Prophet said to him: "Do not think of buying back what you have given in charity." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 2616)
أَنَّهُ حَمَلَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ فَرَآهَا تُبَاعُ فَأَرَادَ شِرَاءَهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَا تَعْرِضْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ»
[AI] He buys it, then he goes to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and consults him in that. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ tells him, "Do not count it as a charity."
أَنْ يَشْتَرِيَهُ ثُمَّ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَاسْتَأْمَرَهُ فِي ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ»

[AI] Umair ibn al-Khattab rode on a horse in the way of Allah and saw something from its produce being sold. He wanted to buy it, so he asked the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do not buy it, nor include it in your charity."
حَمَلَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ فَرَأَى شَيْئًا مِنْ نِتَاجِهِ يُبَاعُ فَأَرَادَ شِرَاءَهُ فَسَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَا تَشْتَرِهِ وَلَا تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ
