The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Before the Last Hour there will be commotions like pieces of a dark night in which a man will be a believer in the morning and an infidel in the evening, or a believer in the evening and infidel in the morning. He who sits during them will be better than he who gets up and he who walks during them is better than he who runs. So break your bows, cut your bowstrings and strike your swords on stones. If people then come in to one of you, let him be like the better of Adam's two sons.  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ بَيْنَ يَدَىِ السَّاعَةِ فِتَنًا كَقِطَعِ اللَّيْلِ الْمُظْلِمِ يُصْبِحُ الرَّجُلُ فِيهَا مُؤْمِنًا وَيُمْسِي كَافِرًا وَيُمْسِي مُؤْمِنًا وَيُصْبِحُ كَافِرًا الْقَاعِدُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْقَائِمِ وَالْمَاشِي فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ السَّاعِي فَكَسِّرُوا قِسِيَّكُمْ وَقَطِّعُوا أَوْتَارَكُمْ وَاضْرِبُوا سُيُوفَكُمْ بِالْحِجَارَةِ فَإِنْ دُخِلَ يَعْنِي عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْكُمْ فَلْيَكُنْ كَخَيْرِ ابْنَىْ آدَمَ  

The Prophet ﷺ said: Before you there will be commotions like pieces of a dark night in which a man will be a believer in the morning and an infidel in the evening. They (the people) said: What do you order us to do? He replied: Keep to your houses.

“Before the Hour comes, there will be tribulation like pieces of black night, when a man will wake up as a believer but be a disbeliever by evening, or he will be a believer in the evening but will be a disbeliever by morning. And the one who is sitting will be better than the one who is standing, and the one who is standing will be better than the one who is walking, and the one who is walking will be better than the one who is running. So break your bows, cut their strings and strike your swords against rocks, and if anyone enters upon anyone of you, let him be like the better of the two sons of Adam. (i.e. the one killed, not the killer).” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3961)  

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ السَّاعَةِ لَفِتَنًا كَقِطَعِ اللَّيْلِ الْمُظْلِمِ يُصْبِحُ الرَّجُلُ فِيهَا مُؤْمِنًا وَيُمْسِي كَافِرًا وَيُمْسِي مُؤْمِنًا وَيُصْبِحُ كَافِرًا الْقَاعِدُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْقَائِمِ وَالْقَائِمُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْمَاشِي وَالْمَاشِي خَيْرٌ مِنَ السَّاعِي كَسِّرُوا قِسِيَّكُمْ وَقَطِّعُوا أَوْتَارَكُمْ وَاضْرِبُوا بِسُيُوفِكُمُ الْحِجَارَةَ فَإِنْ دُخِلَ عَلَى أَحَدٍ بَيْتَهُ فَلْيَكُنْ كَخَيْرِ ابْنَيْ آدَمَ»

"إِنَّ بَيْنَ يَدَى السَّاعةِ فِتنًا كَقطَعٍ الَّليْلِ الْمُظْلِمِ يُصْبحُ الرَّجُلُ فيها مُؤْمنًا، ويُمْسِى كَافرًا، ويُمْسِى مُؤْمنًا، ويُصْبحُ كَافِرًا، الْقَاعدُ فيها خَيْرٌ مِنَ القائم، والقائمُ فيها خيرٌ من الماشى، والماشى فيها خيرٌ من الساعى، فَكَسِّروا قِسِيَّكُمْ وقَطِّعُوا أَوْتاركم واضربُوا سيوفكم بالحجَارة، فإِن دُخِل على أَحدٍ منكم بَيْتُهُ فَلْيَكُنْ كَخَيْرِ ابْنَىْ آدَمَ".  

"عَنْ أَبِى مُوسَى قَالَ: إِنَّ بَعْدكُم فِتَنًا كَقِطَع اللَّيلِ المُظْلِم يُصْبِح الرَّجُلُ فِيهَا مُؤْمِنًا وَيُمْسِى كَافِرًا، وَيُمسى مُؤْمِنًا وَيُصْبح كَافِرًا، الْقَاعِدُ فِيهَا خَيْر مِنَ الْقَائِم، وَالْقَائِم خَيْرٌ مَنِ الْمَاشِى، وَالْماشِى خَيْر مِنَ الراكِب، قَالُوا، فَمَا تَأمُرنَا؟ قَالَ: كُونُوا أَحْلَاسَ البُيُوتِ".
