The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited us to pray in a sheet of cloth without crossing both its ends, and he also prohibited us to pray in a wrapper without putting on a sheet. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 636)   

الحاكم:٩١٤ – ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجَرْمِيُّ ثنا أَبُو تُمَيْلَةَ يَحْيَى بْنُ وَاضِعٍ ثنا أَبُو الْمُنِيبِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

«نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ يُصَلَّى فِي لِحَافٍ لَا يُتَوَشَّحُ بِهِ وَنَهَى أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ الرَّجُلُ فِي سَرَاوِيلَ وَلَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ رِدَاءٌ»  

«هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ وَاحْتَجَّا بِأَبِي تُمَيْلَةَ وَأَمَّا أَبُو الْمُنِيبِ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ فَإِنَّهُ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْعَتَكِيِّ مِنْ ثِقَاتِ الْمَرَاوِزَةِ وَمِمَّنْ يُجْمَعُ حَدِيثُهُ فِي الْخُرَاسَانِيِّينَ» على شرطهما
