[Machine] He was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a man came and entered the mosque and prayed. When he finished his prayer, he greeted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the people. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Go back and pray, as you have not prayed." He mentioned this either twice or three times. The man said, "I do not know what you mean by not praying properly." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The prayer of none of you is complete until he performs ablution as Allah the Almighty has commanded. He washes his face and hands up to the elbows, wipes his head and feet up to the ankles. Then he says the takbeer, praises and glorifies Allah, recites from the Qur'an what Allah has permitted him, then he says the takbeer, bows and places his hands on his knees until his joints are still. Then he stands straight, saying, 'Allah hears whoever praises Him.' He stands straight until every bone returns to its place. Then he performs prostration and places his forehead on the ground until his joints are still. He stands straight, saying the takbeer, raises his head and sits straight on his sitting position while keeping his back straight. He establishes his prayer in this manner until he is finished. Then he said, 'None of your prayers are complete until you do this.'"

This version (of Hadith No 856) adds: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The prayer of any of you is not complete until he performs ablution perfectly, as Allah, the Exalted, has ordered you. He should wash his face and hands up to the elbows, and wipe his head and (wash) his feet up to the ankles. Then he should exalt Allah and praise Him. Then he should recite the Qur'an as much as it is convenient for him. (Narrator then narrated the tradition like Hammad's, No. 856). He said: He then utter the takbir and prostration himself so that his face is at rest. Hammam (sub-narrator) said: Sometimes he reported: So that his forehead is at rest on the ground, and his joints return to their places and are loosened. Then he should say the takbir and then sit right on his hips and erect his back. He described the nature of prayer in this way by offering four rak'ahs until he finished it. The prayer of any of you is not complete unless he does so.

[Machine] A man entered the mosque and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting, so he prayed. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded him to repeat his prayer two or three times. The man asked, "O Messenger of Allah, why do I have to repeat my prayer two or three times?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The prayer of none of the people is complete until he performs ablution, placing the ablution in its proper places, then he says 'Allahu Akbar' (Allah is the Greatest), then praises Allah the Almighty and glorifies Him, then recites whatever is easy for him from the Qur'an, then he says 'Allahu Akbar' (Allah is the Greatest) until he feels relaxation in his joints, then he says 'Samia Allahu liman hamidah' (Allah hears whoever praises Him), until he is standing straight, then he says 'Allahu Akbar' (Allah is the Greatest) and prostrates until he feels relaxation in his joints, then he raises his head until he is sitting straight, then he prostrates again until he feels relaxation in his joints. If he does not do this, his prayer is not complete."

[Machine] He was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a man came and entered the mosque and prayed. When he finished his prayer, he greeted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the people. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Go back and pray, for you have not prayed." He returned and prayed, and we observed his prayer, not knowing what was wrong with it. When he finished his prayer, he greeted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the people. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Go back and pray, for you have not prayed." He mentioned this either two or three times. The man said, "I do not know what wrong I have done in my prayer." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, the prayer is not complete for any of you until he performs ablution as prescribed by Allah. He should wash his face and hands up to the elbows, wipe his head and his feet up to the ankles, then he should say the takbir and praise and glorify Allah, and recite from the Qur'an whatever Allah has permitted him. Then he should say the takbir and bow, placing his palms on his knees until his joints are at rest, then he should stand up straight until all his bones return to their place, then he should say, 'Allah hears the one who praises Him.' Then he should stand until all his joints are at rest, then he should say the takbir and prostrate, placing his forehead on the ground until his joints are at rest, then he should stand up straight until all his bones return to their place, then he should say the takbir and sit on his left thigh, keeping his back straight, and then he should recite the tashahhud, and describe the prayer in this manner until he finishes. Then he said, 'The prayer of any one of you is not complete until he does that.'"
