[Machine] "O people, a trial has encompassed you, like the darkness of a moonless night. Indeed, the best among you in it, or he who takes shelter from it, is the one who grazes his sheep or a man who holds onto the reins of his horse, eating from his sword."  

أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ أَظَلَّتْكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ كَقِطَعِ اللَّيْلِ الْمُظْلِمِ إِنَّمَا خَيْرُ النَّاسِ فِيهَا أَوْ قَالَ مِنْهَا صَاحِبُ شَاءٍ يَأْكُلُ مِنْ رَسَلِ غَنَمِهِ أَوْ رَجُلٌ وَرَاءَ الدَّرْبِ آخِذٌ بِعِنَانِ فَرَسِهِ يَأْكُلُ مِنْ سَيْفِهِ  

[Machine] "It is as if it is a piece of the dark night, O people, in which some companion desires to eat from the head of his sheep and a man from behind the trail holds the reins of his horse and eats from his sword." (This narration is authenticated and not narrated by anyone else.)  

كَأَنَّهَا قِطَعُ اللَّيْلِ الْمُظْلِمِ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ فِيهَا أَوْ قَالَ مِنْهَا صَاحِبُ شَاءٍ يَأْكُلُ مِنْ رَأْسِ غَنَمِهِ وَرَجُلٌ مِنْ وَرَاءِ الدَّرْبِ آخِذٌ بِعِنَانِ فَرَسِهِ يَأْكُلُ مِنْ سَيْفِهِ «مَوْقُوفٌ صَحِيحُ الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يُخْرِجَاهُ» صحيح موقوف  

[Machine] I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "You will be surrounded by trials like patches of dark night. The one who will save people from these trials will be a man from the tops of mountains who will eat from the flesh of his sheep or a man from behind the valleys who will hold onto the reins of his horse and eat from the inside of his sword."  

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «أَظَلَّتْكُمْ فِتَنٌ كَقِطَعِ اللَّيْلِ الْمُظْلِمِ أَنْجَى النَّاسِ مِنْهَا صَاحِبُ شَاهِقَةٍ يَأْكُلُ مِنْ رُسُلِ غَنَمِهِ أَوْ رَجُلٌ مِنْ وَرَاءِ الدُّرُوبِ آخِذٌ بِعِنَانِ فَرَسِهِ يَأْكُلُ مِنْ فَيْءِ سَيْفِهِ»  

"أَظَلَّتْكُم فِتَنٌ كَقِطعِ اللَّيلِ المُظلِمِ، أَنْجى النَّاس منْها صاحِبُ شاهِقَةٍ يأْكُلُ مِنْ رِسْلِ غَنَمِه، أوْ رَجُلٌ مِنْ وَرَاءِ الدُّرُوبِ آخِذٌ بِعِنانِ فَرَسه، يَأْكُلُ مِنْ سَيفِهِ" .  

"غَشيَتكم الفْتَنُ كَقطَع اللَّيلِ المظلِم، أنجَى النَّاسِ فيه رَجُلٌ صَاحِبُ شَاهِقَةٍ يَأكل مِنْ رَسْلِ غَنَمه، أَوْ رَجلٌ آخِذٌ بِعَنَانِ فَرَسهِ مِن وَرَاءِ الدُّروب يَأكُلُ مِنْ سَيفِهِ".  

"عَنْ أَبِى هُرَيْرَة قَالَ: أَظَلَّتْكُمُ الْفِتَنُ كَقِطَعِ اللَّيْلِ الْمُظلِمِ، أَنْجَى النَّاسِ فِيهَا صَاحِبُ شَاهِقَةٍ يَأكُلُ مِنْ رِسْلِ غَنَمِهِ، أَوْ رَجُلٌ مِنْ وَرَاءِ الدَّرْبِ آخذٌ بِعَنَانِ فَرَسِهِ يَأكُلُ (مِنْ) فئِ سَيْفِهِ".
