[Machine] "Al-Hajjaj, be quiet, O sheikh, you have gone mad. When they dispersed, Al-Hajjaj ordered a man from the people of Sham and he struck him with his sword in his leg. Then, Al-Hajjaj entered upon him to visit him, and he said, 'If I had known what had afflicted you, I would have struck your neck.' He replied, 'You are the one who afflicted me.' Al-Hajjaj asked, 'How?' He said, 'The day you entered the sanctuary of Allah with a weapon.'" The translation provided is a literal translation.  

الحاكم:٦٣٥٦حَدَّثَنَا الشَّيْخُ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أَنْبَأَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ثَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِمَوْلًى لِابْنِ عُمَرَ كَيْفَ كَانَ مَوْتُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ؟ قَالَ إِنَّهُ أَنْكَرَ عَلَى الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ يُوسُفَ أَفَاعِيلَهُ فِي قَتْلِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ وَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ فَأَسْمَعُهُ فَقَالَ

الْحَجَّاجُ اسْكُتْ يَا شَيْخًا قَدْ خَرِفْتَ فَلَمَّا تَفَرَّقُوا أَمَرَ الْحَجَّاجُ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ فَضَرَبَهُ بِحَرْبَتِهِ فِي رِجْلِهِ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ الْحَجَّاجُ يَعُودُهُ فَقَالَ لَوْ أَعْلَمُ الَّذِي أَصَابَكَ لَضَرَبْتُ عُنُقَهُ فَقَالَ «أَنْتَ الَّذِي أَصَبْتَنِي» قَالَ كَيْفَ؟ قَالَ «يَوْمَ أَدْخَلْتَ حَرَمَ اللَّهِ السِّلَاحَ» عطية ضعيف
