[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to trim the eye and ear, and not to shave, trim, or pierce." So, "trimming" refers to cutting the edge of the ear, "shaving" refers to cutting from the side of the ear, "pierced" refers to a perforated (eared?) one, and "split" refers to a split one.  

الدارمي:١٩٩٥أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ الصَّائِدِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ

«أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنْ نَسْتَشْرِفَ الْعَيْنَ وَالْأُذُنَ وَأَنْ لَا نُضَحِّيَ بِمُقَابَلَةٍ وَلَا مُدَابَرَةٍ وَلَا خَرْقَاءَ وَلَا شَرْقَاءَ» فَالْمُقَابَلَةُ مَا قُطِعَ طَرَفُ أُذُنِهَا وَالْمُدَابَرَةُ مَا قُطِعَ مِنْ جَانِبِ الْأُذُنِ وَالْخَرْقَاءُ الْمَثْقُوبَةُ وَالشَّرْقَاءُ الْمَشْقُوقَةُ

[Machine] "Our Prophet ﷺ ordered us to pluck out stray hairs around the eyes and ears, and not to have a meeting with someone who has cut a corner of his ear, or has cut the side of his ear, or has a split ear, or has a pierced ear." Abu Ishaq said, "Meeting refers to the cutting of the lobe of the ear, mudadara (cutting the side) refers to cutting the side of the ear, sharqa (split) refers to a split ear, and kharqa (pierced) refers to a pierced ear."
