A man from the tribe of Bani Aslam came to the Prophet ﷺ while he was in the mosque and said, "I have committed illegal sexual intercourse." The Prophet ﷺ turned his face to the other side. The man turned towards the side towards which the Prophet ﷺ had turned his face, and gave four witnesses against himself. On that the Prophet ﷺ called him and said, "Are you insane?" (He added), "Are you married?" The man said, 'Yes." On that the Prophet ﷺ ordered him to be stoned to the death in the Musalla (a praying place). When the stones hit him with their sharp edges and he fled, but he was caught at Al- Harra and then killed  

أَنَّ رَجُلاً مِنْ أَسْلَمَ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَهْوَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ قَدْ زَنَى فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَتَنَحَّى لِشِقِّهِ الَّذِي أَعْرَضَ فَشَهِدَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ أَرْبَعَ شَهَادَاتٍ فَدَعَاهُ فَقَالَ هَلْ بِكَ جُنُونٌ هَلْ أُحْصِنْتَ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ أَنْ يُرْجَمَ بِالْمُصَلَّى فَلَمَّا أَذْلَقَتْهُ الْحِجَارَةُ جَمَزَ حَتَّى أُدْرِكَ بِالْحَرَّةِ فَقُتِلَ  

A man from Bani Aslam came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in the mosque and called (the Prophet ﷺ ) saying, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! I have committed illegal sexual intercourse." On that the Prophet ﷺ turned his face from him to the other side, whereupon the man moved to the side towards which the Prophet ﷺ had turned his face, and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! I have committed illegal sexual intercourse." The Prophet turned his face (from him) to the other side whereupon the man moved to the side towards which the Prophet ﷺ had turned his face, and repeated his statement. The Prophet ﷺ turned his face (from him) to the other side again. The man moved again (and repeated his statement) for the fourth time. So when the man had given witness four times against himself, the Prophet ﷺ called him and said, "Are you insane?" He replied, "No." The Prophet ﷺ then said (to his companions), "Go and stone him to death." The man was a married one. Jabir bin ʿAbdullah Al-Ansari said: I was one of those who stoned him. We stoned him at the Musalla (ʿId praying place) in Medina. When the stones hit him with their sharp edges, he fled, but we caught him at Al-Harra and stoned him till he died.  

أَتَى رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهْوَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَنَادَاهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ الأَخِرَ قَدْ زَنَى يَعْنِي نَفْسَهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَتَنَحَّى لِشِقِّ وَجْهِهِ الَّذِي أَعْرَضَ قِبَلَهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ الأَخِرَ قَدْ زَنَى فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَتَنَحَّى لِشِقِّ وَجْهِهِ الَّذِي أَعْرَضَ قِبَلَهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ ذَلِكَ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَتَنَحَّى لَهُ الرَّابِعَةَ فَلَمَّا شَهِدَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ أَرْبَعَ شَهَادَاتٍ دَعَاهُ فَقَالَ هَلْ بِكَ جُنُونٌ قَالَ لاَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ اذْهَبُوا بِهِ فَارْجُمُوهُ وَكَانَ قَدْ أُحْصِنَ وَعَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي مَنْ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الأَنْصَارِيَّ قَالَ كُنْتُ فِيمَنْ رَجَمَهُ فَرَجَمْنَاهُ بِالْمُصَلَّى بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَلَمَّا أَذْلَقَتْهُ الْحِجَارَةُ جَمَزَ حَتَّى أَدْرَكْنَاهُ بِالْحَرَّةِ فَرَجَمْنَاهُ حَتَّى مَاتَ  

A man from among the people, came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ while Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting in the mosque, and addressed him, saying, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! I have committed an illegal sexual intercourse." The Prophet ﷺ turned his face away from him. The man came to that side to which the Prophet had turned his face, and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! I have committed an illegal intercourse." The Prophet ﷺ turned his face to the other side, and the man came to that side, and when he confessed four times, the Prophet ﷺ called him and said, "Are you mad?" He said, "No, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ!" The Prophet said, "Are you married?" He said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah ﷺ." The Prophet ﷺ said (to the people), "Take him away and stone him to death." Ibn Shihab added, "I was told by one who heard Jabir, that Jabir said, 'I was among those who stoned the man, and we stoned him at the Musalla (ʿId praying Place), and when the stones troubled him, he jumped quickly and ran away, but we overtook him at Al-Harra and stoned him to death (there).' "  

أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَجُلٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَهْوَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَنَادَاهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي زَنَيْتُ يُرِيدُ نَفْسَهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَتَنَحَّى لِشِقِّ وَجْهِهِ الَّذِي أَعْرَضَ قِبَلَهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي زَنَيْتُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَجَاءَ لِشِقِّ وَجْهِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ الَّذِي أَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَلَمَّا شَهِدَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ أَرْبَعَ شَهَادَاتٍ دَعَاهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَبِكَ جُنُونٌ قَالَ لاَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ أَحْصَنْتَ قَالَ نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ اذْهَبُوا فَارْجُمُوهُ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ أَخْبَرَنِي مَنْ سَمِعَ جَابِرًا قَالَ فَكُنْتُ فِيمَنْ رَجَمَهُ فَرَجَمْنَاهُ بِالْمُصَلَّى فَلَمَّا أَذْلَقَتْهُ الْحِجَارَةُ جَمَزَ حَتَّى أَدْرَكْنَاهُ بِالْحَرَّةِ فَرَجَمْنَاهُ  

Messenger of Allah. I have committed adultery. He (the Holy Prophet) turned away from him, He (again) came round facing him and said to him: Messenger of Allah, I have committed adultery. He (the Holy Prophet) turned away until he did that four times, and as he testified four times against his own self, Messenger of Allah ﷺ called him and said: Are you mad? He said: No. He (again) said: Are you married? He said: Yes. Thereupon Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Take him and stone him.  

أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَتَى رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَنَادَاهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي زَنَيْتُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَتَنَحَّى تِلْقَاءَ وَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي زَنَيْتُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ حَتَّى ثَنَى ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِ أَرْبَعَ مَرَّاتٍ فَلَمَّا شَهِدَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ أَرْبَعَ شَهَادَاتٍ دَعَاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَبِكَ جُنُونٌ قَالَ لاَ قَالَ فَهَلْ أَحْصَنْتَ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ اذْهَبُوا بِهِ فَارْجُمُوهُ  

A man of the tribe of Asalam came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and made confession of fornication. He (the prophet) turned away from him. When he testified against him four times, the Prophet ﷺ said: Are you mad? He said: No. he asked: Are you married? He replied: Yes. The Prophet ﷺ then commanded regarding him and he was stoned in the place of prayer. Then when the stones hurt him, he fled, but was overtaken and stoned to death. The Prophet ﷺ then spoke well of him and did not pray over him.  

أَنَّ رَجُلاً مِنْ أَسْلَمَ جَاءَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَاعْتَرَفَ بِالزِّنَا فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ اعْتَرَفَ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ حَتَّى شَهِدَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ أَرْبَعَ شَهَادَاتٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَبِكَ جُنُونٌ قَالَ لاَ قَالَ أَحْصَنْتَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَرُجِمَ فِي الْمُصَلَّى فَلَمَّا أَذْلَقَتْهُ الْحِجَارَةُ فَرَّ فَأُدْرِكَ فَرُجِمَ حَتَّى مَاتَ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ خَيْرًا وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ  

"A man from the tribe of Aslam came to the Prophet ﷺ and confessed adultery. He turned away from him, the he confessed (again). Then he turned away from him (again) until he had testified against himself four times. So the Prophet ﷺ said: "Are you insane?" He said:"No" He said: "Are you married?" He said: "Yes". So he gave the order and he was stoned at the Musalla. He ran when he was stuck by the stones, and he was caught and stoned until he died. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke well of him but he did not perform the (funeral) Salat for him.  

أَنَّ رَجُلاً مِنْ أَسْلَمَ جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَاعْتَرَفَ بِالزِّنَا فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ اعْتَرَفَ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ حَتَّى شَهِدَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ أَرْبَعَ شَهَادَاتٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَبِكَ جُنُونٌ قَالَ لاَ قَالَ أَحْصَنْتَ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ فَرُجِمَ بِالْمُصَلَّى فَلَمَّا أَذْلَقَتْهُ الْحِجَارَةُ فَرَّ فَأُدْرِكَ فَرُجِمَ حَتَّى مَاتَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَيْرًا وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ  

[Machine] He said that a man from the Muslims came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in the mosque and called out to him, saying, "O Messenger of Allah, I have committed adultery." So he turned away from him. Then he turned his face towards him and said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, I have committed adultery." He turned away from him again until he repeated that four times. When he bore witness against himself four times, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called him and said to him, "Are you insane?" He said, "No." He said, "Have you retained your sanity?" He said, "Yes." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Go and stone him." Ibn Shihab said, "Those who heard Jabir bin Abdullah inform me that I was among those who stoned him in the mosque. When the stones began to hurt him, he fled and we caught up with him and stoned him."

أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَسْلَمَ جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَاعْتَرَفَ بِالزِّنَا فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ ثُمَّ اعْتَرَفَ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ حَتَّى شَهِدَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ أَرْبَعَ مَرَّاتٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «أَبِكَ جُنُونٌ؟» قَالَ لَا قَالَ «أُحْصِنْتَ؟» قَالَ نَعَمْ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَرُجِمَ بِالْمُصَلَّى فَلَمَّا أَذْلَقَتْهُ الْحِجَارَةُ فَرَّ فَادْرِكَ فَرُجِمَ حَتَّى مَاتَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «خَيْرًا وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ» اللَّفْظُ لِابْنِ رَافِعٍ

Then, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called him and asked, 'Are you insane?' The man replied, 'No.' The Messenger asked, 'Have you been married?' The man answered, 'Yes.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then ordered him to be stoned. Ibn Shihab narrated, 'Jabir ibn Abdullah said to me, 'I was among those who stoned him in the mosque. After being hit by stones, he tried to escape, but we caught up with him in the Harra (a place), and stoned him again.''"

أَتَى رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَسْلَمَ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَنَادَاهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ الْآخَرَ زَنَى يَعْنِي نَفْسَهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَتَنَحَّى لِشِقِّ وَجْهِهِ الَّذِي أَعْرَضَ قِبَلَهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ الْآخَرَ زَنَى فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَتَنَحَّى لِشِقِّ وَجْهِهِ الَّذِي أَعْرَضَ قِبَلَهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ الْآخَرَ زَنَى فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَتَنَحَّى الرَّابِعَةَ فَلَمَّا شَهِدَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ أَرْبَعَ شَهَادَاتٍ دَعَاهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ هَلْ بِكَ جُنُونٌ؟ فَقَالَ لَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ اذْهَبُوا بِهِ فَارْجُمُوهُ وَكَانَ قَدْ أُحْصِنَ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ فَأَخْبَرَنِي مَنْ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ قَالَ كُنْتُ فِيمَنْ رَجَمَهُ فَرَجَمْنَاهُ بِالْمُصَلَّى بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَلَمَّا أَذْلَقَتْهُ الْحِجَارَةُ جَمَزَ حَتَّى أَدْرَكْنَاهُ بِالْحَرَّةِ فَرَجَمْنَاهُ حَتَّى مَاتَ  

A man from Bani Aslam came to Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in the mosque and called (the Prophet ﷺ ) saying, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! I have committed illegal sexual intercourse." On that the Prophet ﷺ turned his face from him to the other side, whereupon the man moved to the side towards which the Prophet ﷺ had turned his face, and said, "O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! I have committed illegal sexual intercourse." The Prophet turned his face (from him) to the other side whereupon the man moved to the side towards which the Prophet ﷺ had turned his face, and repeated his statement. The Prophet ﷺ turned his face (from him) to the other side again. The man moved again (and repeated his statement) for the fourth time. So when the man had given witness four times against himself, the Prophet ﷺ called him and said, "Are you insane?" He replied, "No." The Prophet ﷺ then said (to his companions), "Go and stone him to death." The man was a married one. Jabir bin ʿAbdullah Al-Ansari said: I was one of those who stoned him. We stoned him at the Musalla (ʿId praying place) in Medina. When the stones hit him with their sharp edges, he fled, but we caught him at Al-Harra and stoned him till he died.
