The Prophet ﷺ said, "He who lets the people hear of his good deeds intentionally, to win their praise, Allah will let the people know his real intention (on the Day of Resurrection), and he who does good things in public to show off and win the praise of the people, Allah will disclose his real intention (and humiliate him).  

البخاري:٦٤٩٩حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ سُفْيَانَ حَدَّثَنِي سَلَمَةُ بْنُ كُهَيْلٍ وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جُنْدَبًا يَقُولُ

قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَلَمْ أَسْمَعْ أَحَدًا يَقُولُ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ غَيْرَهُ فَدَنَوْتُ مِنْهُ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: «مَنْ سَمَّعَ سَمَّعَ اللَّهُ بِهِ، وَمَنْ يُرَائِي يُرَائِي اللَّهُ بِهِ۔»

He who wants to publicise (his deeds), Allah will publicise (his humility), and he who makes a hypocritical display (of his deeds), Allah will make a display of him.

“Whoever wants to be heard of, Allah will make him heard of, and whoever wants to be seen, Allah will show him (i.e., expose his real motives).” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 4207)

ذِكْرُ إِثْبَاتِ نَفْيِ الثَّوَابِ فِي الْعُقْبَى عَنْ مَنْ رَاءَى وَسَمَّعَ فِي أَعْمَالِهِ فِي الدُّنْيَا

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I have not heard anyone other than him (referring to someone) saying, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said.' So, I approached him closely and heard him saying, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Whoever listens to me, Allah will make him hear, and whoever sees me in a dream, Allah will make him see.'"  

ابن حبّان:٤٠٦أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا الْمُلَائِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ جُنْدُبًا يَقُولُ

[Machine] He heard from the Prophet ﷺ except Junadah saying, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, 'Whoever causes others to hear, Allah will make him hear, and whoever shows others visions, Allah will show him visions.'"
