Surat al-Fatihah is a ruqyah (healing); Story of the tribesman who was cured after its ruqyah
We were on a journey and stopped along the way. Then a young woman came and said, “The chief of this tribe has been stung, and our men are away. Is there anyone among you who can perform a healing recitation?” A man went with her—someone we had not known to be skilled in such recitations—and he recited over him, and he recovered. So the man ordered that he be given thirty sheep and gave us milk to drink.
When he returned, we said to him, “Were you good at healing recitations, or did you used to perform them?” He said, “No. I only recited the Mother of the Book (Al-Fātiḥah).” We said, “Do not do anything about it until we come back, or until we ask the Prophet ﷺ.”
When we arrived in Medina, we mentioned it to the Prophet ﷺ. He said, “How did he know that it is a healing recitation? Divide (the reward), and assign me a share as well.”
