ʿUmar said, Ubai was the best of us in the recitation (of the Qur'an) yet we leave some of what he recites.' Ubai says, 'PI have taken it from the mouth of Messenger of Allah ﷺ and will not leave for anything whatever." But Allah said "None of Our Revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten but We substitute something better or similar." 2.106  

عُمَرُ أُبَىٌّ أَقْرَؤُنَا وَإِنَّا لَنَدَعُ مِنْ لَحَنِ أُبَىٍّ وَأُبَىٌّ يَقُولُ أَخَذْتُهُ مِنْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَلاَ أَتْرُكُهُ لِشَىْءٍ قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى {مَا نَنْسَخْ مِنْ آيَةٍ أَوْ نَنْسَأْهَا نَأْتِ بِخَيْرٍ مِنْهَا أَوْ مِثْلِهَا}  

[Machine] "Umar and Ali are our most knowledgeable and Ubbay is our most reciter. And indeed, we leave out many of Ubbay's melodies, and Ubbay used to say that he heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so I do not leave it for anything. And Allah, blessed and exalted, says: "Whatever verses We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring better than it or similar to it" [Al-Baqarah 106]."  

عُمَرُ عَلِيٌّ أَقْضَانَا وَأُبَيٌّ أَقْرَؤُنَا وَإِنَّا لَنَدَعُ كَثِيرًا مِنْ لَحْنِ أُبَيٍّ وَأُبَيٌّ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَا أَدَعُهُ لِشَيْءٍ وَاللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يَقُولُ {مَا نَنْسَخْ مِنْ آيَةٍ أَوْ نُنْسِهَا نَأْتِ بِخَيْرٍ مِنْهَا أَوْ مِثْلِهَا} [البقرة 106]  

[Machine] "Umar is the most knowledgeable among us and Ubayy is the best reciter among us, and indeed we leave what Ubayy says (in terms of recitation) and Ubayy says, 'I have taken it from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ so I will not leave it,' and Allah says, 'We do not abrogate a verse or cause it to be forgotten' [Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 106]."  

عُمَرُ عَلِيٌّ أَقْضَانَا وَأُبَيٌّ أَقْرَؤُنَا وَإِنَّا لَنَدَعُ مِنْ قَوْلِ أُبَيٍّ وَأُبَيٌّ يَقُولُ أَخَذْتُ مِنْ فَمِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَلَا أَدَعُهُ وَاللهُ يَقُولُ {مَا نَنْسَخْ مِنْ آيَةٍ أَوْ نُنْسِهَا} [البقرة 106]  

[Machine] "Umar Ali taught us, and Ubayy recited for us, and indeed we used to leave some of what Ubayy says and Ubayy says, 'I have taken it from the messenger of Allah ﷺ and I do not abandon it,' and Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, said, 'We do not abrogate a verse or cause it to be forgotten' [Quran 2:106]. Adh-Dhahabi remained silent about it in his summary."  

عُمَرُ عَلِيٌّ أَقْضَانَا وَأُبَيٌّ أَقَرَأُنَا وَإِنَّا لَنَدَعُ بَعْضَ مَا يَقُولُ أُبَيٌّ وَأُبَيٌّ يَقُولُ أَخَذْتُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَلَا أَدَعُهُ وَقَدْ قَالَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى {مَا نَنْسَخْ مِنْ آيَةٍ أَوْ نُنْسِهَا} [البقرة 106] سكت عنه الذهبي في التلخيص  

ʿUmar said, "Our best Qur'an reciter is Ubai and our best judge is ʿAli; and in spite of this, we leave some of the statements of Ubai because Ubai says, 'I do not leave anything that I have heard from Messenger of Allah ﷺ while Allah: "Whatever verse (Revelations) do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten but We bring a better one or similar to it." (2.106) (Using translation from Bukhārī 4481)   

قَالَ عُمَرُ أَقْرَؤُنَا أُبَيٌّ وَأَقْضَانَا عَلِيٌّ وَإِنَّا لَنَدَعُ مِنْ قَوْلِ أُبَيٍّ وَذَلِكَ أَنَّهُ يَقُولُ لَا أَدَعُ شَيْئًا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَقَدْ قَالَ اللهُ ﷻ «مَا نَنْسَخْ مِنْ آيَةٍ أَوْ نَنْسَأْهَا نَأْتِ بِخَيْرٍ مِنْهَا أَوْ مَثَلِهَا»  

"عَنْ عُمَرَ قَالَ: عَلىٌّ أَقْضَانَا، وَأُبَىٌّ أَقْرَأُنَا، وَإِنَّا لندَع شيئًا من قراءة أُبَىٍّ، ذلكَ إنَّ أُبيّا يقولُ: لَا أَدعُ شيئًا سمعتُهُ من رَسُول الله ﷺ وَقَدْ قَالَ الله: {مَا نَنْسَخْ مِنْ آيَةٍ أَوْ نُنْسِهَا} وَفِى لَفْظٍ: وَقَدْ نَزَلَ بَعْدَ أُبَىٍّ كِتَابٌ".
