ʿUmar said, Ubai was the best of us in the recitation (of the Qur'an) yet we leave some of what he recites.' Ubai says, 'PI have taken it from the mouth of Messenger of Allah ﷺ and will not leave for anything whatever." But Allah said "None of Our Revelations do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten but We substitute something better or similar." 2.106  

البخاري:٥٠٠٥حَدَّثَنَا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قَالَ

عُمَرُ أُبَىٌّ أَقْرَؤُنَا وَإِنَّا لَنَدَعُ مِنْ لَحَنِ أُبَىٍّ وَأُبَىٌّ يَقُولُ أَخَذْتُهُ مِنْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَلاَ أَتْرُكُهُ لِشَىْءٍ قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى {مَا نَنْسَخْ مِنْ آيَةٍ أَوْ نَنْسَأْهَا نَأْتِ بِخَيْرٍ مِنْهَا أَوْ مِثْلِهَا}

ʿUmar said, "Our best Qur'an reciter is Ubai and our best judge is ʿAli; and in spite of this, we leave some of the statements of Ubai because Ubai says, 'I do not leave anything that I have heard from Messenger of Allah ﷺ while Allah: "Whatever verse (Revelations) do We abrogate or cause to be forgotten but We bring a better one or similar to it." (2.106)

And indeed, we leave out many of Ubbay's melodies, and Ubbay used to say that he heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so I do not leave it for anything.
