The Prophet ﷺ recited Suratan-Najm (103) at Mecca and prostrated while reciting it and those who were with him did the same except an old man who took a handful of small stones or earth and lifted it to his forehead and said, "This is sufficient for me." Later on, I saw him killed as a non-believer.

قَرَأَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ النَّجْمَ بِمَكَّةَ فَسَجَدَ فِيهَا وَسَجَدَ مَنْ مَعَهُ غَيْرَ شَيْخٍ أَخَذَ كَفًّا مِنْ حَصًى أَوْ تُرَابٍ فَرَفَعَهُ إِلَى جَبْهَتِهِ وَقَالَ يَكْفِينِي هَذَا فَرَأَيْتُهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ قُتِلَ كَافِرًا

The Prophet ﷺ recited Surat-an-Najm (53) and prostrated while reciting it and all the people prostrated and a man amongst the people took a handful of stones or earth and raised it to his face and said, "This is sufficient for me. Later on I saw him killed as a non-believer."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَرَأَ سُورَةَ النَّجْمِ فَسَجَدَ بِهَا فَمَا بَقِيَ أَحَدٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ إِلاَّ سَجَدَ فَأَخَذَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ كَفًّا مِنْ حَصًى أَوْ تُرَابٍ فَرَفَعَهُ إِلَى وَجْهِهِ وَقَالَ يَكْفِينِي هَذَا فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ بَعْدُ قُتِلَ كَافِرًا

The Prophet ﷺ recited Surat-an-Najm and then prostrated himself, and all who were with him prostrated too. But an old man took a handful of dust and touched his forehead with it saying, "This is sufficient for me." Later on I saw him killed as an infidel.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَرَأَ {وَالنَّجْمِ} فَسَجَدَ بِهَا وَسَجَدَ مَنْ مَعَهُ غَيْرَ أَنَّ شَيْخًا أَخَذَ كَفًّا مِنْ تُرَابٍ فَرَفَعَهُ إِلَى جَبْهَتِهِ فَقَالَ يَكْفِينِي هَذَا قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ بَعْدُ قُتِلَ كَافِرًا

The Apostle of Allah ﷺ recited (Surat) al Najm and performed prostration during its recital and all those who were along with him also prostrated themselves except one old man who took a handful of pebbles or dust in his palm and lifted it to his forehead and said: This is sufficient for me. 'Abdullah said: I saw that he was later killed in a state of unbelief.

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَرَأَ { وَالنَّجْمِ} فَسَجَدَ فِيهَا وَسَجَدَ مَنْ كَانَ مَعَهُ غَيْرَ أَنَّ شَيْخًا أَخَذَ كَفًّا مِنْ حَصًى أَوْ تُرَابٍ فَرَفَعَهُ إِلَى جَبْهَتِهِ وَقَالَ يَكْفِينِي هَذَا قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ بَعْدُ قُتِلَ كَافِرًا

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited Surah al-Najm and prostrated himself. No one remained there who did not prostrate (along with him). A man from the people took a handful of pebbles or dust and raised it to his face saying: This is enough for me. 'Abd Allah (b. Mas'ud) said: I later saw him killed as an infidel.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَرَأَ سُورَةَ النَّجْمِ فَسَجَدَ فِيهَا وَمَا بَقِيَ أَحَدٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ إِلاَّ سَجَدَ فَأَخَذَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ كَفًّا مِنْ حَصًى أَوْ تُرَابٍ فَرَفَعَهُ إِلَى وَجْهِهِ وَقَالَ يَكْفِينِي هَذَا قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ قُتِلَ كَافِرًا

[AI] Translation: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited Surah An-Najm and then prostrated in it. No one remained except for a sheikh who took a handful of gravel and raised it to his forehead, saying, 'This is enough for me.'"

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَرَأَ النَّجْمَ فَسَجَدَ فِيهَا فَلَمْ يَبْقَ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا سَجَدَ إِلَّا شَيْخٌ أَخَذَ كَفًّا مِنْ حَصًى فَرَفَعَهُ إِلَى جَبْهَتِهِ وَقَالَ يَكْفِينِي هَذَا

[AI] Indeed, the Prophet ﷺ prostrated to the star and the Muslims prostrated as well, except for a man from Quraysh who took a handful of soil and raised it to his forehead, then prostrated on it. Abdullah said, "So I saw him later, and he was killed as an unbeliever."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سَجَدَ بِالنَّجْمِ وَسَجَدَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ إِلَّا رَجُلًا مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ أَخَذَ كَفًّا مِنْ تُرَابٍ فَرَفَعَهُ إِلَى جَبْهَتِهِ فَسَجَدَ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ فَرَأَيْتُهُ بَعْدُ قُتِلَ كَافِرًا

[AI] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ prostrated in front of the star, and no one from the people remained except a sheikh. The sheikh took a handful of gravel and raised it to his forehead, saying, "This is sufficient for me." Abdullah said, "Indeed, I saw him being killed as a disbeliever."

سَجَدَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي النَّجْمِ فَمَا بَقِيَ أَحَدٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ إِلَّا سَجَدَ إِلَّا شَيْخٌ أَخَذَ كَفًّا مِنْ حَصًى فَرَفَعَهُ إِلَى جَبْهَتِهِ وَقَالَ يَكْفِينِي هَذَا قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ قُتِلَ كَافِرًا

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ read the star and prostrated in it, and no one was with him except for an elderly sheikh. He took a handful of pebbles or soil and said, "Thus he said," and placed it on his forehead. He said, "I saw him killed as a disbeliever."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَرَأَ النَّجْمَ فَسَجَدَ فِيهَا وَمَنْ مَعَهُ إِلَّا شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ أَخَذَ كَفًّا مِنْ حَصًى أَوْ تُرَابٍ قَالَ فَقَالَ بِهِ هَكَذَا وَضَعَهُ عَلَى جَبْهَتِهِ قَالَ فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ قُتِلَ كَافِرًا

[AI] Narrated Anas bin Malik: "The Prophet ﷺ recited Surat An-Najm (The Star) and then prostrated, and so did all the people except an old man who took a handful of dust and touched his forehead with it saying, 'This is sufficient for me.'"

«أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَرَأَ سُورَةَ النَّجْمِ فَسَجَدَ فَمَا بَقِيَ أَحَدٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ إِلَّا سَجَدَ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ وَاحِدٌ أَخَذَ كَفًّا مِنْ حَصًى فَوَضَعَهُ عَلَى جَبْهَتِهِ» وَقَالَ يَكْفِينِي

[AI] Narrated by the Prophet ﷺ that he recited Surah An-Najm and then prostrated, and everyone from the people prostrated except for one man who lifted a handful of pebbles and placed it on his forehead, saying, "This is sufficient for me." Abdullah (the narrator) said, "I saw him after that, and he was killed as a disbeliever."

"سَجَدَ رَسُولُ الله ﷺ فِى النَّجْمِ، فَمَا بَقِىَ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا سَجَدَ مَعَه، إِلَّا شَيْخٌ أخَذَ كفا مِنْ تُرَابٍ فَرَفَعَهُ عَلَى جَبْهَتِهِ، فَلَقَدْ رَأيْتُهُ قُتِلَ كَافِرًا".
