On the 1st of Dhul-Hijja we set out with the intention of performing Hajj. Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Any one who likes to assume the Ihram for ʿUmra he can do so. Had I not brought the Hadi with me, I would have assumed the Ihram for ʿUmra. "Some of us assumed the Ihram for ʿUmra while the others assumed the Ihram for Hajj. I was one of those who assumed the Ihram for ʿUmra. I got menses and kept on menstruating until the day of ʿArafat and complained of that to the Prophet. He told me to postpone my ʿUmra, undo and comb my hair, and to assume the Ihram of Hajj and I did so. On the night of Hasba, he sent my brother ʿAbdur-Rahman bin Abi Bakr with me to at-Tanʿim, where I assumed the Ihram for ʿUmra in lieu of the previous one. Hisham said, "For that (ʿUmra) no Hadi, fasting or alms were required.

ʿAisha said, "We set out with the Prophet ﷺ in his last Hajj. Some of us intended to perform ʿUmra while others Hajj. When we reached Mecca, Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Those who had assumed the lhram for ʿUmra and had not brought the Hadi should finish his lhram and whoever had assumed the Ihram for ʿUmra and brought the Hadi should not finish the Ihram till he has slaughtered his Hadi and whoever had assumed the lhram for Hajj should complete his Hajj." ʿAisha further said, "I got my periods (menses) and kept on menstruating till the day of ʿArafat, and I had assumed the Ihram for ʿUmra only (Tamattuʿ). The Prophet ﷺ ordered me to undo and comb my head hair and assume the lhram for Hajj only and leave the ʿUmra. I did the same till I completed the Hajj. Then the Prophet ﷺ sent ʿAbdur Rahman bin Abi Bakr with me and ordered me to perform ʿUmra from at-Tanʿim in lieu of the missed ʿUmra."

We set out along with Messenger of Allah ﷺ shortly before the appearance of the new moon (crescent) of the month of Dhi-l-Hijja and he said to us, "Whoever wants to assume Ihram for Hajj may do so; and whoever wants to assume Ihram for ʿUmra may do so. Hadn't I brought the Hadi (animal for sacrificing) (with me), I would have assumed Ihram for ʿUmra." (ʿAisha added,): So some of us assumed Ihram for ʿUmra while the others for Hajj. I was amongst those who assumed Ihram for ʿUmra. The day of ʿArafat approached and I was still menstruating. I complained to the Prophet ﷺ (about that) and he said, "Abandon your ʿUmra, undo and comb your hair, and assume Ihram for Hajj;." When it was the night of Hasba, he sent ʿAbdur Rahman with me to at-Tanʿim and I assumed Ihram for ʿUmra (and performed it) in lieu of my missed ʿUmra.

When it was the night of Hasba (day of departure from Mina), the Prophet ﷺ sent ʿAbdur Rahman with me to at-Tanʿim. The sub-narrator adds: He (ʿAbdur-Rahman) let her ride behind him. And she assumed Ihram for ʿUmra in lieu of the abandoned one. Aisha completed her Hajj and ʿUmra, and no Hadi, Sadaqa (charity), or fasting was obligatory for her.

We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the year of the Farewell Pilgrimage. There were some amongst us who had put on IHram for Umra and there were some who had put on Ihram for Hajj. (We proceeded on till) we came to Mecca. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He who put on Ihram for 'Umra but did not bring the sacrificial animal with him should put it off. and he who put on Ihram for Umra and he who had brought the sacrificial animal with him should not put it off until he had slaughtered the animal; and he who put on lhram for Hajj should complete it. A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) said: I was in the monthlyperiod, and I remained In this state till the day of 'Arafa, and I had entered into the state of Ihram for 'Umra. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ thus commanded me to undo my hair and comb them (again) and enter into the state of Ihram for Hajj, and abandon (the rites of 'Umra). She ('A'isha) said: I did so, and when I had completed my Pilgrimage, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent with me 'Abd al-Rabman b. Abu Bakr and commanded me to (resume the rites of) 'Umra at Tan'im. the place where (I abandoned) 'Umra and put on Ihram for Hajj (before completing Umra).

We went with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ (in his) Farewell Pilgrimage near the time of the appearance of the new moon of Dhul-Hijja. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: He who amongst you intends to put on Ihram for ʿUmra may do so; had I not brought sacrificial animals along with me, I would have put on Ihram for ʿUmra. She (further said). There were some persons who put on Ihram for ʿUmra, and some persons who put on Ihram for Hajj, and I was one of those who put on Ihram for ʿUmra. We went on till we reached Mecca, and on the day of ʿArafa I found myself in a state of menses, but I did not put off the Ihram for ʿUmra. I told about (this state of mine) to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, whereupon he said: Abandon your ʿUmra, and undo the hair of your head and comb (them), and put on Ihram for Hajj. She (ʿA'isha) said: I did accordingly. When it was the night at Hasba and Allah enabled us to complete our Hajj, he (the Holy Prophet) sent with me ʿAbd al-Rahman b. Abu Bakr, and he mounted me behind him on his camel and took me to Tanʿim and I put on Ihram for ʿUmra, and thus Allah enabled us to complete our Hajj and ʿUmra and (we were required to observe) neither sacrifice nor alms nor fasting.

“We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the Farewell Pilgrimage, close to the time of the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Whoever among you wants to begin the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah, let him do so. If it were not for the fact that I have brought a sacrificial animal with me, I would have began the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah.’” She said: “Some of the people began the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah, and some began the Talbiyah for Hajj. I was one of those who began the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah.” She said: “We set out until we reached Makkah, then the Day of ‘Arafah came while I was in menses, but I did not exit Ihram for ‘Umrah I complained about that to the Prophet ﷺ and he said: ‘Leave your ‘Umrah, undo your hair and comb it, and begin the Talbiyah for Hajj.’” She said: “So I did that, then on the night of Hasbah (i.e., the twelfth night of Dhul-Hijjah), when Allah had enables us to complete our Hajj, he sent ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr with me. He seated me behind him and went out to Tan’im, then I began the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah and Allah enabled us to complete our Hajj and ‘Umrah, and there was no sacrificial animal, charity nor fasting.”

Had not I brought the Hadi with me, I would have assumed Ihram for ʿUmra." Some of the people assumed Ihram for ʿUmra while others for Hajj. I was amongst those who had assumed Ihram for ʿUmra. I got my menses before entering Mecca, and was menstruating till the day of ʿArafat. I complained to Messenger of Allah ﷺ about it, he said, "Abandon your ʿUmra, undo and comb your hair, and assume Ihram for Hajj." So, I did that accordingly. When it was the night of Hasba (day of departure from Mina), the Prophet ﷺ sent ʿAbdur Rahman with me to at-Tanʿim. The sub-narrator adds: He (ʿAbdur-Rahman) let her ride behind him. And she assumed Ihram for ʿUmra in lieu of the abandoned one. Aisha completed her Hajj and ʿUmra, and no Hadi, Sadaqa (charity), or fasting was obligatory for her. [Machine] We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Farewell Hajj and stopped at the Tree. He said, "Whoever wishes, let them perform Umrah, and whoever wishes, let them perform Hajj." Aisha said, "Some of them performed Umrah and some of them performed Hajj." She said, "I was among those who performed Umrah. I experienced the Day of Arafah while in a state of menstruation. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ told me, 'Shave your head, perform Ghusl, and proceed with your Umrah, and have Hajj done by your family.' When it was the night of Muzdalifah, he commanded me, and I performed Tawaf at the place I left my Umrah."

“We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the Farewell Pilgrimage, close to the time of the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Whoever among you wants to begin the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah, let him do so. If it were not for the fact that I have brought a sacrificial animal with me, I would have began the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah.’” She said: “Some of the people began the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah, and some began the Talbiyah for Hajj. I was one of those who began the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah.” She said: “We set out until we reached Makkah, then the Day of ‘Arafah came while I was in menses, but I did not exit Ihram for ‘Umrah I complained about that to the Prophet ﷺ and he said: ‘Leave your ‘Umrah, undo your hair and comb it, and begin the Talbiyah for Hajj.’” She said: “So I did that, then on the night of Hasbah (i.e., the twelfth night of Dhul-Hijjah), when Allah had enables us to complete our Hajj, he sent ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Bakr with me. He seated me behind him and went out to Tan’im, then I began the Talbiyah for ‘Umrah and Allah enabled us to complete our Hajj and ‘Umrah, and there was no sacrificial animal, charity nor fasting.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3000)

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever wishes to perform Hajj, let them do so, and whoever wishes to perform Umrah, let them do so." So some of us performed Hajj and some of us performed Umrah. I, however, performed Umrah. When we reached Sarif, I mentioned menstruation. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me while I was crying and I said, "I wish I had not performed my Umrah this year." I mentioned her menstruation to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Shave your head, perform the purification rituals, and do what the Muslim pilgrims do during Hajj." So I obeyed Allah and His Messenger. On the night of Sadr (the day to depart Makkah), Abdur Rahman bin Abu Bakr ordered her to leave for Tan'im. She said, "I performed Umrah from there."
