البزّار:٦٢٢٥ – أخبرنا ابن عبدة أخبرنا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ ثابتٍ عَن أَنَس أَنه سُئِلَ عَنْ خِضَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ

صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيه وَسَلَّم قال لو شئت أن أعد شماطته وَذَكَرَ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يُخَضِّبْ وَلكن أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ خَضَّبَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِالْحِنَّاءِ وَالْكَتْمِ وَخَضَّبَ عُمَر بِالْحِنَّاءِ بَحْتًا

(They were so few) that if I so liked I could count their number in his head, and he further said: (That is) he did not dye. Abu Bakr, however, dyed them and so did 'Umar dye them with pure henna.
