When Ibn 'Umar offered the Friday prayer in Mecca he would go forward and pray two rak'ahs, he would then go forward and pray four rak'ahs; but when he was in Medina, he offered the Friday prayer, then returned to his house and prayed two rak'ahs, not praying them in the mosque. Someone mentioned this to him and he replied that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to do it. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 1130)

هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ الشَّيْخَيْنِ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ بِهَذِهِ السِّيَاقَةِ إِنَّمَا اتَّفَقَا عَلَى حَدِيثِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ فِي بَيْتِهِ وَلِمُسْلِمٍ وَحْدَهُ كَانَ يُصَلِّي بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ أَرْبَعًا وَقَدْ تَابَعَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ يَزِيدَ بْنَ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَلَى رِوَايَتِهِ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ هَكَذَاعلى شرطهما
