[Machine] We made the pilgrimage to the Kaaba just as we did with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ . He performed Umrah and set off until he reached an open space. He turned to his companions and said, "I only see them as one. Bear witness that I have combined Hajj with Umrah." He continued until he reached the Kaaba and performed tawaf around it seven times. He also performed seven sa'is between Safa and Marwa. He did not add anything to that. He saw that he had fulfilled its obligation and narrated the words of Yahya ibn Yahya. In another narration of Ibn Bukayr, he performed Umrah because the Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed Umrah during the year of Hudaybiyyah. The rest of the statement has the same meaning. Ash-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said, "If I am prevented from reaching the Kaaba, we will do as we did with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ , meaning we will declare it lawful as we declared it lawful with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the year of Hudaybiyyah."

When ʿAbdullah bin ʿUmar set out for Mecca with the intentions performing ʿUmra in the period of afflictions, he said, "If I should be prevented from reaching the Kaʿba, then I would do the same as we did while in the company of Messenger of Allah ﷺ ." So, he assumed the Ihram for ʿUmra since the Prophet ﷺ had assumed the Ihram for ʿUmra in the year of Al-Hudaibiya. Then ʿAbdullah bin ʿUmar thought about it and said, "The conditions for both Hajj and ʿUmra are similar." He then turned towards his companions and said, "The conditions of both Hajj and ʿUmra are similar and I make you witnesses that I have made the performance of Hajj obligatory for myself along with ʿUmra." He then performed one Tawaf (between As-Safa and Al-Marwa) for both of them (i.e. Hajj and (ʿUmra) and considered that to be sufficient for him and offered a Hadi.

muslim:1230aYaḥyá b. Yaḥyá > Mālik > Nāfiʿ > ʿAbd

If I am detained (from going to) the House, we would do the same as we did with Messenger of Allah ﷺ. So he went out and put on Ihram for 'Umra and moved on until he reached al-Baida'. He turned towards his Companions and said: There is one command for both of them. and 1 call you as my witness (and say) that verify I have- made Hajj with 'Umra compulsory for me. He proceeded until, when he came to the House, he circumambulated it seven times and ran between al-Safa' and al-Marwa seven times, and made no addition to it and thought it to be sufficient for him and offered sacrifice.

malik:20-102Mālik > Nāfiʿ > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUmar

Yahya related to me from Malik from Nafi that when Abdullah ibn Umar set out for Makka during the troubles (between al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf and Zubair ibn al-Awwam) he said, "If I am blocked from going to the House we shall do what we did when we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ" and he went into ihram for umra, because that was what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did in the year of al-Hudaybiya. But afterwards, he reconsidered his position and said, "It is the same either way." After that he turned to his companions and said, "It is the same either way. I call you to witness that I have decided in favour of hajj and umra together." He then got through to the House (without being stopped) and did one set of tawaf, which he considered to be enough for himself, and sacrificed an animal. Malik said, "This is what we go by if someone is hindered by an enemy, as the Prophet ﷺ and his companions were. If some one is hindered by anything other than an enemy, he is only freed from ihram by tawaf of the House. "

[Machine] We built the house just as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had built it. Then he left and performed Umrah and continued until he reached the open plain. He turned to his companions and said, "I have only commanded them to witness that I have obligated Hajj along with Umrah." He continued until he reached the Kaaba, circled it, and then walked between Safa and Marwa seven times without adding anything more. He saw that this fulfilled his duty and he completed his Umrah. This is mentioned in Sahihayn from the hadith of Malik, narrated by Ubaidullah bin Umar and others from Nafi'. They added that it was not permissible for anyone to do so until they had performed Hajj with it, and his statement "he did not add to it" means that he only performed one circuit between Safa and Marwa. If he had performed Hajj and then intended to perform Umrah, Imam Ash-Shafi`i, may Allah have mercy on him, said, "I have encountered and memorized more than him. He says, 'That is not for him.' It has also been narrated from some of the Tabi'in, and I do not know if anything has been proven from any of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ regarding this matter. It has been narrated from Ali, but it is not confirmed. His intention was only for what he did.
