ahmad:7567 – Abū Kāmil > Zuhayr > Suhayl b. Abū Ṣāliḥ from his father > Abū Hurayrah

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If you meet them on the road, do not greet them with peace, and force them to the narrowest part of it." Zuhayr asked, "What about the Jews and Christians?" He replied, "The idolaters too."  

أحمد:٧٥٦٧ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا سُهَيْلُ بْنُ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

Do not greet the Jews and the Christians before they greet you and when you meet any one of them on the roads force him to go to the narrowest part of it.

that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Do not precede the Jews and the Christians with the Salam. And if one of you meets them in the path, then force them to its narrow portion."  

Abū ʿĪsá said that this Ḥadīth is Ḥasan-Ṣaḥīḥ.

البيهقي:١٨٧٢٥ – أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ الْفَقِيهُ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ الْقَطَّانُ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ السُّلَمِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ قَالَ ذَكَرَ سُفْيَانُ عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ قَالَ

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah, ﷺ , said: "When you meet them, do not initiate with them the greeting of peace and force them to the narrowest part of the road." He said this referring to the Christians with regards to description, but we see it applying to the polytheists.  

البيهقي:١٨٧٢٦ – وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو طَاهِرٍ الزِّيَادِيُّ أنبأ حَاجِبُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الطُّوسِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ مُنِيبٍ ثنا جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ أنبأ سُهَيْلُ بْنُ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا لَقِيتُمُوهُمْ فَلَا تَبْدَءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلَامِ وَاضْطَرُّوهُمْ إِلَى أَضْيَقِ الطَّرِيقِ قَالَ هَذَا لِلنَّصَارَى فِي النَّعْتِ وَنَحْنُ نَرَاهُ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ
