"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to go out and pour water, then he would perform ablution with soil. So I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, the water is close to you.' He said, 'I do not know if I will be able to reach it.' He said, 'Yahya once again I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he went out and poured water, then he performed dry ablution. So it was said to him, 'The water is near us.'"  

أحمد:٢٧٦٤ – حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ وَمُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ قَالا حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ هُبَيْرَةَ قَالَ يَحْيَى عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ وَلَمْ يَقُلْ مُوسَى عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ حَنَشٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَخْرُجُ فَيُهَرِيقُ الْمَاءَ فَيَتَمَسَّحُ بِالتُّرَابِ فَأَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ الْمَاءَ مِنْكَ قَرِيبٌ قَالَ مَا أَدْرِي لَعَلِّي لَا أَبْلُغُهُ قَالَ قَالَ يَحْيَى مَرَّةً أُخْرَى كُنْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَخَرَجَ فَأُهْرَاقَ الْمَاءَ فَتَيَمَّمَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّ الْمَاءَ مِنَّا قَرِيبٌ
