The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent out an expedition. They were affected by cold. When they returned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he commanded them to wipe over turbans and stockings. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 146)   

أحمد:٢٢٣٨٣ – حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ ثَوْرٍ عَنْ رَاشِدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍعَنْ ثَوْبَانَ قَالَ

بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سَرِيَّةً فَأَصَابَهُمُ الْبَرْدُ فَلَمَّا قَدِمُوا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ شَكَوْا إِلَيْهِ مَا أَصَابَهُمْ مِنَ الْبَرْدِ فَأَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يَمْسَحُوا عَلَى الْعَصَائِبِ وَالتَّسَاخِينِ

«هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ بِهَذَا اللَّفْظِ إِنَّمَا اتَّفَقَا عَلَى الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْعِمَامَةِ بِغَيْرِ هَذَا اللَّفْظِ وَلَهُ شَاهِدٌ» على شرط مسلم
