The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent out an expedition. They were affected by cold. When they returned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he commanded them to wipe over turbans and stockings.  

أبو داود:١٤٦ – حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ ثَوْرٍ عَنْ رَاشِدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ قَالَ

بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ سَرِيَّةً فَأَصَابَهُمُ الْبَرْدُ فَلَمَّا قَدِمُوا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يَمْسَحُوا عَلَى الْعَصَائِبِ وَالتَّسَاخِينِ

«هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ وَلَمْ يُخَرِّجَاهُ بِهَذَا اللَّفْظِ إِنَّمَا اتَّفَقَا عَلَى الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْعِمَامَةِ بِغَيْرِ هَذَا اللَّفْظِ وَلَهُ شَاهِدٌ» على شرط مسلم
