[Machine] One of us heard someone saying "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful" and he says "Eehee Eehee, I have prayed behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abu Bakr, and Umar, and I did not hear any of them saying "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful."  

أحمد:٢٠٥٤٥ – حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ غِيَاثٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو نَعَامَةَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ قَالَ كَانَ أَبُونَا إِذَا

سَمِعَ أَحَدًا مِنَّا يَقُولُ بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ يَقُولُ إِهِي إِهِي صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ فَلَمْ أَسْمَعْ أَحَدًا مِنْهُمْ يَقُولُ بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

I observed prayer along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and with Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman (may Allah be pleased with all of them), but I never heard any one of them reciting Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Rahim loudly.  

مسلم:٣٩٩a – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ كِلاَهُمَا عَنْ غُنْدَرٍ قَالَ ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ

صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ فَلَمْ أَسْمَعْ أَحَدًا مِنْهُمْ يَقْرَأُ {بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ}  

nasai:907 – ʿAbdullāh b. Saʿīd Abū Saʿīd al-Ashaj > ʿUqbah b. Khālid > Shuʿbah And Ibn Abū ʿArūbah > Qatādah > Anas > Ṣallayt

"I prayed behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman, may Allah be pleased with them, and I did not hear any of them say out loud: In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful."

nasai:908 – Ismāʿīl b. Masʿūd > Khālid > ʿUthmān b. Ghiyāth from my father

"If Abdullah bin Mughaffal heard any one of us recite: 'In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful', he would say: 'I prayed behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and behind Abu Bakr and behind Umar-may Allah be pleased with them both- and I did not hear any of them recite: 'In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful."

ذِكْرُ الْخَبَرِ الْمُدْحِضِ قَوْلَ مَنْ زَعَمَ أَنَّ قَتَادَةَ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ هَذَا الْخَبَرَ مِنْ أَنَسٍ

ibnhibban:1799 – ʿUmar b. Ismāʿīl b. Abū Ghaylān al-Thaqafī And al-Ṣṣūfī Waghayruhumā > ʿAlī b. al-Jaʿd > Shuʿbah Washaybān > Qatādah > Anas b. Mālik

"I prayed behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman, may Allah be pleased with them, and I did not hear any of them say out loud: In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful." (Using translation from Nasāʾī 907)  

ابن حبّان:١٧٩٩ – أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي غَيْلَانَ الثَّقَفِيُّ وَالصُّوفِيُّ وَغَيْرُهُمَا قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْجَعْدِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ وَشَيْبَانُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَالَ

«صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ رِضْوَانُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمْ فَلَمْ أَسْمَعْ أَحَدًا يَجْهَرْ بِبِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ»  

nasai-kubra:982 – Ismāʿīl b. Masʿūd > Khālid > ʿUthmān / Ibn Ghiyāth
