The Prophet ﷺ said: I do not ride on purple, or wear a garment dyed with saffron, or wear shirt hemmed with silk. Pointing to the collar of his shirt al-Hasan (al-Basri) said: The perfume used by men should have an odour but no colour, and the perfume used by women should have a colour but no odour. Sa'id said: I think he said: They interpreted his tradition about perfume used by women as applying when she comes out. But when she is with her husband, she may use any perfume she wishes.  

أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ أَرْكَبُ الأُرْجُوَانَ وَلاَ أَلْبَسُ الْمُعَصْفَرَ وَلاَ أَلْبَسُ الْقَمِيصَ الْمُكَفَّفَ بِالْحَرِيرِ قَالَ وَأَوْمَأَ الْحَسَنُ إِلَى جَيْبِ قَمِيصِهِ قَالَ وَقَالَ أَلاَ وَطِيبُ الرِّجَالِ رِيحٌ لاَ لَوْنَ لَهُ أَلاَ وَطِيبُ النِّسَاءِ لَوْنٌ لاَ رِيحَ لَهُ قَالَ سَعِيدٌ أُرَاهُ قَالَ إِنَّمَا حَمَلُوا قَوْلَهُ فِي طِيبِ النِّسَاءِ عَلَى أَنَّهَا إِذَا خَرَجَتْ فَأَمَّا إِذَا كَانَتْ عِنْدَ زَوْجِهَا فَلْتَطَّيَّبْ بِمَا شَاءَتْ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I do not ride on the rainbow, nor do I wear saffron garments, nor do I wear a shirt that is embellished with silk." Al-Hasan then pointed to the pocket of his shirt and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, the scent of a man should have no color, and the scent of women should have no smell."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا أَرْكَبُ الْأُرْجُوَانَ وَلَا أَلْبَسُ الْمُعَصْفَرَ وَلَا أَلْبَسُ الْقَمِيصَ الْمُكَفَّفَ بِالْحَرِيرِ» وَأَوْمَأَ الْحَسَنُ إِلَى جَيْبِ قَمِيصِهِ وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «أَلَا وَطِيبُ الرَّجُلِ رِيحٌ لَا لَوْنَ لَهُ وَطِيبُ النِّسَاءِ لَوْنٌ لَا رِيحَ لَهُ»

لَا أَرْكَبُ الْأُرْجُوَانَ وَلَا أَلْبَسُ الْمُعَصْفَرَ وَلَا أَلْبَسُ الْقَمِيصَ الْمُكَفَّفَ بِالْحَرِيرِ قَالَ وَأَوْمَأَ الْحَسَنُ إِلَى جَيْبِ قَمِيصِهِ قَالَ وَقَالَ أَلَا وَطِيبُ الرِّجَالِ رِيحٌ لَا لَوْنَ لَهُ أَلَا وَطِيبُ النِّسَاءِ لَوْنٌ لَا رِيحَ لَهُ قَالَ سَعِيدٌ إِنَّمَا حَمَلْنَا قَوْلَهُ فِي طِيبِ النِّسَاءِ عَلَى أَنَّهَا إِذَا خَرَجَتْ وَأَمَّا عِنْدَ زَوْجِهَا فَإِنَّهَا تَطَيَّبُ بِمَا شَاءَتْ  

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I do not ride on a rainbow, nor do I wear saffron-colored clothes, nor do I wear a shirt made of silk." Al-Hasan pointed to the pocket of his shirt and said, "Behold, the scent of men has no color, and behold, the scent of women has no scent."  

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَا أَرْكَبُ الْأُرْجُوَانَ وَلَا أَلْبَسُ الْمُعَصْفَرَ وَلَا أَلْبَسُ الْقَمِيصَ الْمُكَفَّفَ بِالْحَرِيرِ قَالَ وَأَوْمَأَ الْحَسَنُ إِلَى جَيْبِ قَمِيصِهِ وَقَالَ «أَلَا وَطِيبُ الرِّجَالِ [10] رِيحٌ لَا لَوْنَ لَهُ أَلَا وَطِيبُ النِّسَاءِ لَوْنٌ لَا رِيحَ لَهُ»  

"لَا أَرْكبُ الأُرجُوَانَ، وَلَا أَلبسُ المُعَصفَرَ وَلَا أَلبِسُ القَمِيصَ المُكَفَّفَ بالحَرِيرِ، أَلا وَطِيبُ الرِّجِالِ رِيحٌ لا لَوْنَ لَهُ، ألَا وَطِيبُ النِّسَاءِ لَوْنٌ لا رِيحَ لَهُ".
