The nearness of the Hour to the Prophet’s mission

ahmad:18770 – Muḥammad b. ʿUbayd > al-Aʿmash > Ibn Abī Khālid > Wahb al-Suwāʾī > Rasūl Allāh ﷺ

[AI] "I and the Hour were sent like this from this, and it nearly preceded it." Al-A'mash joined the index finger and the middle finger, and Muhammad said once: "It nearly preceded me."

أحمد:١٨٧٧٠ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ وَهْبٍ السُّوَائِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

«بُعِثْتُ أَنَا وَالسَّاعَةُ كَهَذِهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ، وَإِنْ كَادَتْ لَتَسْبِقُهَا». وَجَمَعَ الْأَعْمَشُ السَّبَّابَةَ وَالْوُسْطَى، وَقَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ مَرَّةً: إِنْ كَادَتْ لَتَسْبِقُنِي.

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I was sent and the Hour (Day of Judgment) is like this, from this (i.e., his fingers) that it was almost to precede me."
