My brother and I came to the Prophet ﷺ and I requested him to take the pledge of allegiance from us for migration. He said, "Migration has passed away with its people." I asked, "For what will you take the pledge of allegiance from us then?" He said, "I will take (the pledge) for Islam and Jihad."

أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَنَا وَأَخِي فَقُلْتُ بَايِعْنَا عَلَى الْهِجْرَةِ فَقَالَ مَضَتِ الْهِجْرَةُ لأَهْلِهَا فَقُلْتُ عَلاَمَ تُبَايِعُنَا قَالَ عَلَى الإِسْلاَمِ وَالْجِهَادِ

I brought my brother Abu Ma'bad to the Messenger of Allah (may peace he upon him) after the conquest of Mecca and said: Messenger of Allah, allow him to swear his pledge of migration at your hand. He said: The period of migration is over with those who had to do it (and now nobody can get this meritorious distinctions) I said: For what actions will you allow him to bind himself in oath? He said: (He can do so) for serving the cause of Islam, for fighting in the way of Allah and for fighting in the cause of virtue. Abd Uthman said: I met Abd Ma'bad and told him what I had heard from Mujashi'. He said: He has told the truth.

جِئْتُ بِأَخِي أَبِي مَعْبَدٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بَعْدَ الْفَتْحِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ بَايِعْهُ عَلَى الْهِجْرَةِ قَالَ قَدْ مَضَتِ الْهِجْرَةُ بِأَهْلِهَا قُلْتُ فَبِأَىِّ شَىْءٍ تُبَايِعُهُ قَالَ عَلَى الإِسْلاَمِ وَالْجِهَادِ وَالْخَيْرِ قَالَ أَبُو عُثْمَانَ فَلَقِيتُ أَبَا مَعْبَدٍ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ بِقَوْلِ مُجَاشِعٍ فَقَالَ صَدَقَ

[Machine] I came with my brother Ma'bad to the Prophet ﷺ after the conquest. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have come to you with my brother to pledge allegiance to him for the migration." He said, "The emigrants have taken what they needed." So I asked, "What can we pledge allegiance to him for?" He said, "For Islam, faith, and striving in the cause of Allah." I met Ma'bad later, and he was the eldest of the two. I asked him, and he said, "Mujashir is truthful."

قَدِمْتُ بِأَخِي مَعْبَدٍ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بَعْدَ الْفَتْحِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ جِئْتُكَ بِأَخِي لِتُبَايِعَهُ عَلَى الْهِجْرَةِ فَقَالَ ذَهَبَ أَهْلُ الْهِجْرَةِ بِمَا فِيهَا فَقُلْتُ عَلَى أَيِّ شَيْءٍ تُبَايِعُهُ؟ قَالَ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ وَالْإِيمَانِ وَالْجِهَادِ قَالَ فَلَقِيتُ مَعْبَدًا بَعْدُ وَكَانَ أَكْبَرَهُمَا فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَقَالَ صَدَقَ مُجَاشِعٌ

"I came to the Messenger of Allah with my father Umayyah on the Day of the Conquest (of Makkah) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, accept my father's pledge for emigration (Al-Hijrah).' The Messenger of Allah said: 'I will accept his pledge to fight in Jihad, for the emigration (Al-Hijrah) has ceased."' (Using translation from Nasāʾī 4160)

He said, 'The people of migration have already taken what they needed.' So I said, 'Then what shall I pledge allegiance to him for, O Messenger of Allah?' He replied, 'Pledge allegiance to him for Islam, faith, and jihad.'" (The narration by Al-Dhahabi does not provide a summary of this conversation)
