[Machine] We descended into a valley from the valleys of Tihamat, a hollow in the mountains. Indeed, we descended into it quickly. He said, "And in the darkness of dawn, the people were like the branches and sides of a tree, they gathered and prepared." He said, "By Allah, we did not expect to be surrounded except by the army that has intensified its attack on us." The people retreated, but they did not retreat in the way we expected. The messenger of Allah ﷺ moved to the right and said, "Come to me, O people, I am the messenger of Allah, I am Muhammad ibn Abdullah." He said, "The camels couldn't bear being close to each other." The people left, except for a group of Muhajireen, Ansar, and his family who remained steadfast with him ﷺ. Abu Bakr, Umar, Ali ibn Abi Talib, Abbas ibn Abdul Muttalib, his son Al-Fadl ibn Abbas, Abu Sufyan ibn al-Harith, Rabee'ah ibn al-Harith, Ayman ibn Ubayd, who is the son of Umm Ayman, and Usamah ibn Zaid. Ibn Ishaq said, "And a man from the Hawazin tribe was riding a camel, holding a red flag in his hand, and a black head on a long spear, in front of the people. The Hawazin were behind him. When he reached them, he pierced them with his spear, and when the people moved away from him, he raised it for those behind him to follow him." Ibn Ishaq said, "And Asim ibn Umar ibn Qatadah narrated to me from Abdul Rahman ibn Jabir, who narrated from his father Jabir ibn Abdullah. He said, 'While this man from the Hawazin tribe, the one with the flag on his camel, was doing what he was doing, Ali ibn Abi Talib and a man from the Ansar wanted him. Ali approached him from behind, struck the back of the camel's neck, causing him to fall onto his knees. The Ansari man then jumped on the man and struck him with a powerful blow that cut his foot in half. He fell from his mount, and the people scattered. By Allah, the defeated people did not return to fight until they found themselves captives under the custody of the messenger of Allah ﷺ."  

أحمد:١٥٠٢٧حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جَابِرٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ لَمَّا اسْتَقْبَلْنَا وَادِيَ حُنَيْنٍ قَالَ

انْحَدَرْنَا فِي وَادٍ مِنْ أَوْدِيَةِ تِهَامَةَ أَجْوَفَ حَطُوطٍ إِنَّمَا نَنْحَدِرُ فِيهِ انْحِدَارًا قَالَ وَفِي عَمَايَةِ الصُّبْحِ وَقَدْ كَانَ الْقَوْمُ كَمَنُوا لَنَا فِيشِعَابِهِ وَفِي أَجْنَابِهِ وَمَضَايِقِهِ قَدْ أَجْمَعُوا وَتَهَيَّئُوا وَأَعَدُّوا قَالَ فَوَاللهِ مَا رَاعَنَا وَنَحْنُ مُنْحَطُّونَ إِلَّا الْكَتَائِبُ قَدْ شَدَّتْ عَلَيْنَا شَدَّةَ رَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ وَانْهَزَمَ النَّاسُ رَاجِعِينَ فَاسْتَمَرُّوا لَا يَلْوِي أَحَدٌ مِنْهُمْ عَلَى أَحَدٍ وَانْحَازَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ الْيَمِينِ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِلَيَّ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ هَلُمُّوا إِلَيَّ أَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ أَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ فَلَا شَيْءَ احْتَمَلَتْ الْإِبِلُ بَعْضُهَا بَعْضًا فَانْطَلَقَ النَّاسُ إِلَّا أَنَّ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ رَهْطًا مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالْأَنْصَارِ وَأَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ غَيْرَ كَثِيرٍ ثَبَتَ مَعَهُ ﷺ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ وَمِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ وَالْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ وَابْنُهُ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ وَأَبُو سُفْيَانَ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ وَرَبِيعَةُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ وَأَيْمَنُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ وَهُوَ ابْنُ أُمِّ أَيْمَنَ وَأُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ قَالَ وَرَجُلٌ مِنْ هَوَازِنَ عَلَى جَمَلٍ لَهُ أَحْمَرَ فِي يَدِهِ رَايَةٌ لَهُ سَوْدَاءُ فِي رَأْسِ رُمْحٍ طَوِيلٍ لَهُ أَمَامَ النَّاسِ وَهَوَازِنُ خَلْفَهُ فَإِذَا أَدْرَكَ طَعَنَ بِرُمْحِهِ وَإِذَا فَاتَهُ النَّاسُ رَفَعَهُ لِمَنْ وَرَاءَهُ فَاتَّبَعُوهُقَالَ ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ وَحَدَّثَنِي عَاصِمُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ بَيْنَا ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ هَوَازِنَ صَاحِبُ الرَّايَةِ عَلَى جَمَلِهِ ذَلِكَ يَصْنَعُ مَا يَصْنَعُ إِذْ هَوَى لَهُ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ وَرَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ يُرِيدَانِهِ قَالَ فَيَأْتِيهِ عَلِيٌّ مِنْ خَلْفِهِ فَضَرَبَ عُرْقُوبَيِ الْجَمَلِ فَوَقَعَ عَلَى عَجُزِهِ وَوَثَبَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ عَلَى الرَّجُلِ فَضَرَبَهُ ضَرْبَةً أَطَنَّ قَدَمَهُ بِنِصْفِ سَاقِهِ فَانْجَعَفَ عَنْ رَحْلِهِ وَاجْتَلَدَ النَّاسُ فَوَاللهِ مَا رَجَعَتْ رَاجِعَةُ النَّاسِ مِنْ هَزِيمَتِهِمْ حَتَّى وَجَدُوا الْأَسْرَى مُكَتَّفِينَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

AbdulMuttalib ibn Rabi'ah ibn al-Harith said that his father, Rabi'ah ibn al-Harith, and Abbas ibn al-Muttalib said to AbdulMuttalib ibn Rabi'ah and al-Fadl ibn Abbas: Go to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and tell him: Messenger of Allah, we are now of age as you see, and we wish to marry. Messenger of Allah, you are the kindest of the people and the most skilled in matchmaking. Our fathers have nothing with which to pay our dower. So appoint us collector of sadaqah (zakat), Messenger of Allah, and we shall give you what the other collectors give you, and we shall have the benefit accruing from it. Ali came to us while we were in this condition. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: No, I swear by Allah, he will not appoint any of you collector of sadaqah (zakat). Rabi'ah said to him: This is your condition; you have gained your relationship with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ by marriage, but we did not grudge you that. Ali then put his cloak on the earth and lay on it. He then said: I am the father of Hasan, the chief. I swear by Allah, I shall not leave this place until your sons come with a reply (to the question) for which you have sent them to the Prophet ﷺ. AbdulMuttalib said: So I and al-Fadl went towards the door of the apartment of the Prophet ﷺ. We found that the noon prayer in congregation had already started. So we prayed along with the people. I and al-Fadl then hastened towards the door of the apartment of the Prophet ﷺ. He was (staying) with Zaynab, daughter of Jahsh, that day. We stood until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came. He caught my ear and the ear of al-Fadl. He then said: Reveal what you conceal in your hearts. He then entered and permitted me and al-Fadl (to enter). So we entered and for a little while we asked each other to talk. I then talked to him, or al-Fadl talked to him (the narrator, Abdullah was not sure). He said: He spoke to him concerning the matter about which our fathers ordered us to ask him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent for a moment and raised his eyes towards the ceiling of the room. He took so long that we thought he would not give any reply to us. Meanwhile we saw that Zaynab was signalling to us with her hand from behind the veil, asking us not to be in a hurry, and that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was (thinking) about our matter. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then lowered his head and said to us: This sadaqah (zakat) is a dirt of the people. It is legal neither for Muhammad nor for the family of Muhammad. Call Nawfal ibn al-Harith to me. So Nawfal ibn al-Harith was called to him. He said: Nawfal, marry AbdulMuttalib (to your daughter). So Nawfal married me (to his daughter). The Prophet ﷺ then said: Call Mahmiyyah ibn Jaz'i to me. He was a man of Banu Zubayd, whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had appointed collector of the fifths. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Mahmiyyah: Marry al-Fadl (to your daughter). So he married him to her. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Stand up and pay the dower from the fifth so-and-so on their behalf. Abdullah ibn al-Harith did not name it (i.e. the amount of the dower).

أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ رَبِيعَةَ بْنَ الْحَارِثِ وَعَبَّاسَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ قَالاَ لِعَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ وَلِلْفَضْلِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ائْتِيَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقُولاَ لَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدْ بَلَغْنَا مِنَ السِّنِّ مَا تَرَى وَأَحْبَبْنَا أَنْ نَتَزَوَّجَ وَأَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَبَرُّ النَّاسِ وَأَوْصَلُهُمْ وَلَيْسَ عِنْدَ أَبَوَيْنَا مَا يُصْدِقَانِ عَنَّا فَاسْتَعْمِلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ عَلَى الصَّدَقَاتِ فَلْنُؤَدِّ إِلَيْكَ مَا يُؤَدِّي الْعُمَّالُ وَلْنُصِبْ مَا كَانَ فِيهَا مِنْ مِرْفَقٍ قَالَ فَأَتَى إِلَيْنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ وَنَحْنُ عَلَى تِلْكَ الْحَالِ فَقَالَ لَنَا إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لاَ وَاللَّهِ لاَ نَسْتَعْمِلُ مِنْكُمْ أَحَدًا عَلَى الصَّدَقَةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَبِيعَةُ هَذَا مِنْ أَمْرِكَ قَدْ نِلْتَ صِهْرَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَلَمْ نَحْسُدْكَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَلْقَى عَلِيٌّ رِدَاءَهُ ثُمَّ اضْطَجَعَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ أَنَا أَبُو حَسَنٍ الْقَرْمُ وَاللَّهِ لاَ أَرِيمُ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْكُمَا ابْنَاكُمَا بِجَوَابِ مَا بَعَثْتُمَا بِهِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ عَبْدُ الْمُطَّلِبِ فَانْطَلَقْتُ أَنَا وَالْفَضْلُ إِلَى بَابِ حُجْرَةِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ حَتَّى نُوَافِقَ صَلاَةَ الظُّهْرِ قَدْ قَامَتْ فَصَلَّيْنَا مَعَ النَّاسِ ثُمَّ أَسْرَعْتُ أَنَا وَالْفَضْلُ إِلَى بَابِ حُجْرَةِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَهُوَ يَوْمَئِذٍ عِنْدَ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ فَقُمْنَا بِالْبَابِ حَتَّى أَتَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَخَذَ بِأُذُنِي وَأُذُنِ الْفَضْلِ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَخْرِجَا مَا تُصَرِّرَانِ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ فَأَذِنَ لِي وَلِلْفَضْلِ فَدَخَلْنَا فَتَوَاكَلْنَا الْكَلاَمَ قَلِيلاً ثُمَّ كَلَّمْتُهُ أَوْ كَلَّمَهُ الْفَضْلُ قَدْ شَكَّ فِي ذَلِكَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ قَالَ كَلَّمَهُ بِالأَمْرِ الَّذِي أَمَرَنَا بِهِ أَبَوَانَا فَسَكَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ سَاعَةً وَرَفَعَ بَصَرَهُ قِبَلَ سَقْفِ الْبَيْتِ حَتَّى طَالَ عَلَيْنَا أَنَّهُ لاَ يَرْجِعُ إِلَيْنَا شَيْئًا حَتَّى رَأَيْنَا زَيْنَبَ تَلْمَعُ مِنْ وَرَاءِ الْحِجَابِ بِيَدِهَا تُرِيدُ أَنْ لاَ تَعْجَلاَ وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي أَمْرِنَا ثُمَّ خَفَّضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ لَنَا إِنَّ هَذِهِ الصَّدَقَةَ إِنَّمَا هِيَ أَوْسَاخُ النَّاسِ وَإِنَّهَا لاَ تَحِلُّ لِمُحَمَّدٍ وَلاَ لآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ادْعُوا لِي نَوْفَلَ بْنَ الْحَارِثِ فَدُعِيَ لَهُ نَوْفَلُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ فَقَالَ يَا نَوْفَلُ أَنْكِحْ عَبْدَ الْمُطَّلِبِ فَأَنْكَحَنِي نَوْفَلٌ ثُمَّ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ ادْعُوا لِي مَحْمِيَةَ بْنَ جَزْءٍ وَهُوَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي زُبَيْدٍ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ اسْتَعْمَلَهُ عَلَى الأَخْمَاسِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ لِمَحْمِيَةَ أَنْكِحِ الْفَضْلَ فَأَنْكَحَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ قُمْ فَأَصْدِقْ عَنْهُمَا مِنَ الْخُمُسِ كَذَا وَكَذَا لَمْ يُسَمِّهِ لِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ  

ذِكْرُ الِاسْتِحْبَابِ لِلْإِمَامِ أَنْ يُرِيَ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ الْجَلَدَ عِنْدَ فَتَوْرِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ عَنْ قِتَالِ أَعْدَاءِ اللَّهِ

[Machine] We accompanied the Messenger of Allah ﷺ without knowing the news of the people who had gathered against us. So we encountered the valley of Hunayn in the darkness of dawn, and it was a hollow valley among the valleys of Tihama. They were descending into it rapidly. He (the Messenger) said, "By Allah, people are following each other in a manner that they are not aware of anything, as the battalions have reached them from every direction." The people did not anticipate being defeated, so they started retreating.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then turned to the right side and said, "Where are you people? I am the Messenger of Allah and I am Muhammad ibn Abdullah." At that time, there was a large man riding a red camel with a black flag in his hand. He stabbed with it when he reached and pushed it from behind when he missed something in front of him. Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) noticed him, as well as a man from the Ansar. Both of them intended to confront him.

Ali struck the two humps of the camel, causing it to fall on its side, while the Ansari man attacked his leg, causing him to fall and severing half of his leg. The people engaged in fighting until they faced defeat. Safwan ibn Umayyah's brother-in-law, who was present, said, "Indeed, magic has ended today." At that time, Safwan ibn Umayyah was a polytheist. He had suffered a blow from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the Battle of Uhud. Safwan said to him, "Be quiet, may Allah make your mouth useless." Then he said, "By Allah, a man from Quraysh supporting me is more beloved to me than a man from Hawazin supporting me."  

ابن حبّان:٤٧٧٤أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مِهْرَانَ السَّبَّاكُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَاصِمُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

أَقْبَلْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ لَا نَعْلَمُ بِخَبَرِ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ جَيَّشُوا لَنَا فَاسْتَقْبَلْنَا وَادِيَ حُنَيْنٍ فِي عَمَايَةِ الصُّبْحِ وَهُوَ وَادِي أَجْوَفُ مِنْ أَوْدِيَةِ تِهَامَةَ إِنَّمَا يَنْحَدِرُونَ فِيهِ انْحِدَارًا قَالَ فَوَاللَّهِ إِنَّ النَّاسَ لَيُتَابِعُونَ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ بِشَيْءٍ إِذْ فَجِئَهُمُ الْكَتَائِبُ مِنْ كُلِّ نَاحِيَةٍ فَلَمْ يَنْتَظِرِ النَّاسُ أَنِ انْهَزَمُوا رَاجِعِينَ قَالَ وَانْحَازَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ ذَاتَ الْيَمِينِ وَقَالَ «أَيْنَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ؟ أَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَأَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ» وَكَانَ أَمَامَ هَوَازِنَ رَجُلٌ ضَخْمٌ عَلَى جَمَلٍ أَحْمَرَ فِي يَدِهِ رَايَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ إِذَا أُدْرِكَ طَعَنَ بِهَا وَإِذَا فَاتَهُ شَيْءٌ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ دَفَعَهَا مِنْ خَلْفِهِ فَرَصَدَ لَهُ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رِضْوَانُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَرَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ كِلَاهُمَا يُرِيدُهُ قَالَ فَضَرَبَ عَلِيٌّ عُرْقُوبَيِ الْجَمَلِ فَوَقَعَ عَلَى عَجُزِهِ وَضَرَبَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ سَاقَهُ فَطَرَحَ قَدَمَهُ بِنِصْفِ سَاقِهِ فَوَقَعَ وَاقْتَتَلَ النَّاسُ حَتَّى كَانَتِ الْهَزِيمَةُ وَكَانَ أَخُو صَفْوَانَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ لِأُمِّهِ قَالَ أَلَا بَطَلَ السِّحْرُ الْيَوْمَ وَكَانَ صَفْوَانُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُشْرِكًا فِي الْمُدَّةِ الَّتِي ضَرَبَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ لَهُ صَفْوَانُ اسْكُتْ فَضَّ اللَّهُ فَاكَ فَوَاللَّهِ لَأَنْ يَلِيَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ يَلِيَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ هَوَازِنَ

Allah has made blind the hearts of some people as He has deprived them of eyesight that they give religious verdict in favour of temporary marriage, while he was alluding to a person (Ibn 'Abbas). Ibn Abbas called him and said: You are an uncouth person, devoid of sense. By my life, Mut'a was practised during the lifetime of the leader of the pious (he meant Messenger of Allah, may peace be upon him), and Ibn Zubair said to him: just do it yourselves, and by Allah, if you do that I will stone you with your stones. Ibn Shihab said. Khalid b. Muhajir b. Saifullah informed me: While I was sitting in the company of a person, a person came to him and he asked for a religious verdict about Mut'a and he permitted him to do it. Ibn Abu 'Amrah al-Ansari (Allah be pleased with him) said to him: Be gentle. It was permitted in- the early days of Islam, (for one) who was driven to it under the stress of necessity just as (the eating of) carrion and the blood and flesh of swine and then Allah intensified (the commands of) His religion and prohibited it (altogether). Ibn Shihab reported: Rabi' b. Sabra told me that his father (Sabra) said: I contracted temporary marriage with a woman of Banu 'Amir for two cloaks during the lifetime of Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; then he forbade us to do Mut'a. Ibn Shihab said: I heard Rabi' b. Sabra narrating it to Umar b. 'Abd al-'Aziz and I was sitting there. (Using translation from Muslim 1406k)   

البيهقي:١٤١٦٤وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ ثنا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أنبأ ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ ؓ قَامَ بِمَكَّةَ فَقَالَ

إِنَّ نَاسًا أَعْمَى اللهُ قُلُوبَهُمْ كَمَا أَعْمَى أَبْصَارَهُمْ يُفْتُونَ بِالْمُتْعَةِ وَيُعَرِّضُ بِالرَّجُلِ فَنَادَاهُ فَقَالَ إنك جِلْفٌ جَافٍ فَلَعَمْرِي لَقَدْ كَانَتِ الْمُتْعَةُ تُفْعَلُ فِي عَهْدِ إِمَامِ الْمُتَّقِينَ يُرِيدُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ فَجَرِّبْ بِنَفْسِكَ فَوَاللهِ لَئِنْ فَعَلْتَهَا لَأَرْجُمَنَّكَ بِأَحْجَارِكَ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ فَأَخْبَرَنِي خَالِدُ بْنُ الْمُهَاجِرِ بْنِ سَيْفِ اللهِ أَنَّهُ بَيْنَمَا هُوَ جَالِسٌ عِنْدَ رَجُلٍ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ فَاسْتَفْتَاهُ فِي الْمُتْعَةِ فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ مَهْلًا مَا هِيَ وَاللهِ لَقَدْ فُعِلَتْ فِي عَهْدِ إِمَامِ الْمُتَّقِينَ قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ إِنَّهَا كَانَتْ رُخْصَةً فِي أَوَّلِ الْإِسْلَامِ لِمَنْ يُضْطَرُّ إِلَيْهَا كَالْمَيْتَةِ وَالدَّمِ وَلَحْمِ الْخِنْزِيرِ ثُمَّ أَحْكَمَ اللهُ الدِّينَ وَنَهَى عَنْهَا قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ وَأَخْبَرَنِي الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سَبْرَةَ الْجُهَنِيُّ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ قَالَ قَدْ كُنْتُ اسْتَمْتَعْتُ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْ بَنِي عَامِرٍ بِبُرْدَيْنِ أَحْمَرَيْنِ ثُمَّ نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْمُتْعَةِ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ وَسَمِعْتُ الرَّبِيعَ بْنَ سَبْرَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ذَلِكَ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ وَأَنَا جَالِسٌ  

رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ حَرْمَلَةَ بْنِ يَحْيَى 14165 وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْفَقِيهُ أنبأ أَبُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ حَيَّانَ أَبُو الشَّيْخِ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ فَذَكَرَهُ بِنَحْوِهِ إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ يُعَرِّضُ بِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَزَادَ فِي آخِرِهِ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ وَأَخْبَرَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللهِ أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ كَانَ يُفْتِي بِالْمُتْعَةِ وَيَغْمِصُ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ فَأَبَى ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ أَنْ يَنْتَكِلَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ حَتَّى طَفِقَ بَعْضُ الشُّعَرَاءِ يَقُولُ [البحر البسيط] يَا صَاحِ هَلْ لَكَ فِي فُتْيَا ابْنِ عَبَّاسِ هَلْ لَكَ فِي نَاعِمٍ خُودٍ مُبْتَلَّةٍ تَكُونُ مَثْوَاكَ حَتَّى مَصْدَرِ النَّاسِ؟ قَالَ فَازْدَادَ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ بِهَا قَذَرًا وَلَهَا بُغْضًا حِينَ قِيلَ فِيهَا الْأَشْعَارُ
