"When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived in Al-Madinah the Muhajirun came to him and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! We have not seen a people more willing to sacrifice when having a lot, nor more patient when having a little than the people whom we are staying among. Our provisions are so sufficient, and we share with them in their produce such that we fear that all our reward is gone. So the Prophet ﷺ said: "No. As long as you supplicate to Allah for them and praise (show gratitude to) them(for it)."  

لَمَّا قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْمَدِينَةَ أَتَاهُ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا رَأَيْنَا قَوْمًا أَبْذَلَ مِنْ كَثِيرٍ وَلاَ أَحْسَنَ مُوَاسَاةً مِنْ قَلِيلٍ مِنْ قَوْمٍ نَزَلْنَا بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِهِمْ لَقَدْ كَفَوْنَا الْمُؤْنَةَ وَأَشْرَكُونَا فِي الْمَهْنَإِ حَتَّى خِفْنَا أَنْ يَذْهَبُوا بِالأَجْرِ كُلِّهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لاَ مَا دَعَوْتُمُ اللَّهَ لَهُمْ وَأَثْنَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ  

[Machine] "The immigrants, O Messenger of Allah, we have not seen a people whom we came upon showing better hospitality in little or giving more generously in abundance. We have been satisfied by their provisions and they have included us in their gatherings to the extent that we thought they would take all the reward. He said: No, as long as you praise them and supplicate to Allah for them."  

الْمُهَاجِرُونَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا رَأَيْنَا مِثْلَ قَوْمٍ قَدِمْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَحْسَنَ مُوَاسَاةً فِي قَلِيلٍ وَلَا أَحْسَنَ بَذْلًا فِي كَثِيرٍ لَقَدْ كَفَوْنَا الْمَئُونَةَ وَأَشْرَكُونَا فِي الْمَهْنَأِ حَتَّى لَقَدْ حَسِبْنَا أَنْ يَذْهَبُوا بِالْأَجْرِ كُلِّهِ قَالَ لَا مَا أَثْنَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَدَعَوْتُمُ اللهَ لَهُمْ  

[Machine] The immigrants said, "O Messenger of Allah, the Ansar have given all of their reward. We have not seen a people who excel in giving a lot and in comforting a few of them. And we have been sufficient in sustenance." He said, "Are you not grateful to them and pray to Allah for them?" They said, "Yes." He said, "That is in return for that."  

قَالَتِ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ذَهَبْتِ الْأَنْصَارُ بِالْأَجْرِ كُلِّهِ مَا رَأَيْنَا قَوْمًا أَحْسَنَ بَذْلًا لَكَثِيرٍ وَلَا أَحْسَنَ مُوَاسَاةٍ فِي قَلِيلٍ مِنْهُمْ وَلَقَدْ كَفَوْنَا الْمُؤْنَةَ؟ قَالَ «أَلَيْسَ تُثْنُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِهِ وَتَدْعُونَ اللهَ لَهُمْ؟» قَالُوا بَلَى قَالَ «فَذَاكَ بِذَاكَ»  

"When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived in Al-Madinah the Muhajirun came to him and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! قَالَ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا رَأَيْنَا مِثْلَ قَوْمٍ قَدِمْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الْمَدِينَةَ أَحْسَنَ بَذْلًا مِنْ كَثِيرٍ وَلَا أَحْسَنَ مُوَاسَاةً مِنْ قَلِيلٍ قَدْ كَفَوْنَا الْمُؤْنَةَ وَأَشْرَكُونَا فِي الْمَهْنَأِ فَقَدْ خَشِينَا أَنْ يَكُونُوا يَذْهَبُونَ بِالْأَجْرِ كُلِّهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ كَلَّا مَا أَثْنَيْتُمْ بِهِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَدَعَوْتُمُ اللهَ لَهُمْ  

"عَنْ أنَسٍ أنَّ المهاجرين أتَوُا النبي ﷺ فقالُوا: يا رسول الله، ما رأينا قومًا قط أبذلَ من كثيرٍ ولا أحسنَ مواساةً من قليل من الأنصار، ولقد قدمنا المدينة فكفَوْنَا المؤنَة وأشرَكُونا في المهنأ، لقد خفنا أن يذهبوا بالأجر كُلَّه، فقالَ: أما ما أثنيته (*) عليهم ودعوته لهم فلا، وفى لفظ: مكافأة أو شبه المكافأة".
