[Machine] I heard a brother saying, "O Allah, if You have written us among the miserable before You, then erase us and write us as happy. And if You have written us as happy, then make us firm, for You eliminate what You will and establish, and the Mother of the Book is with You."  

الزهد لأحمد:٢٠٨٤حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ الْوَرَّاقُ الْكُوفِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا غَنَّامٌ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ شَقِيقًا يَقُولُ «اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كُنْتَ كَتَبْتَنَا عِنْدَكَ مِنَ الْأَشْقِيَاءِ فَامْحُنَا واكْتُبْنَا سُعَدَاءَ وَإِنْ كُنْتَ كَتَبْتَنَا سُعَدَاءَ فَاثبِتْنَا فَإِنَّكَ تَمْحُو مَا تَشَاءُ وَتُثْبِتُ وَعِنْدَكَ أُمُّ الْكِتَابِ»

"عَنْ أَبِى عُثْمانَ النهدى قال: سمعتُ عمرَ بنَ الخطابِ وَهُوَ يَطُوفُ بِالبيتِ يَقُولُ: اللهم إِنْ كُنْتَ كَتَبْتَنِى في السَّعَادةِ فَأَبْقِنِى فيها، وَإِنْ كُنتَ كتَبْتَنِى في الشَّقَاوَةِ فامْحُنى (* *) منها وأَبْقِنىِ في السَّعَادةِ؛ فإِنَّكَ تَمْحُو مَا تَشَاءُ وتُثْبِتُ وعِنْدَكَ أُمُّ الكتاب".
