"I prayed Qiyam with the Prophet ﷺ. He started by using the Siwak and performing wudu, then he stood and prayed. He started reciting Al-Baqarah and he did not come to any verse that spoke of mercy but he paused and asked for mercy, and he did not come to any verse that spoke of punishment but he paused (and sought refuge with Allah from that). Then he bowed and he stayed bowing for as long as he had stood,a nd he said while bowing: 'Subhanaka Dhil-jabaraut wal-malakut wal-kibriya' wal-'azamah (Glory be to the One Who has all power, sovereignty, magnificence and might.)' Then he prostrated for as long as he had bowed, saying while prostrating: 'Subhana Dhil-jabarut wal-malakut wal-kibriya' wal-'azamah (Glory be to the One Who has all power, sovereignty, magnificence and might.)' Then he recited Al Imran, then another surah and another, doing that each time."

[Machine] I heard Awf ibn Malik saying, "I stood with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one night, and he began to perform the prayer. I stood with him, and he started by reciting the opening chapter of the Quran (Al-Fatiha), making sure to pause at every verse that mentions mercy and supplicating, and also pausing at every verse that mentions punishment to seek refuge. Then, he bowed and remained in the bowing position for the same duration as his standing. In his bowing, he would say, 'Glory be to the Possessor of all might, dominion, greatness, and grandeur.' Then, he recited Surah Al-Imran, followed by another Surah, and he repeated this process."

I stood up to pray along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ; he got up and recited Surat al-Baqarah (Surah 2). When he came to a verse which spoke of mercy, he stopped and made supplication, and when he came to verse which spoke of punishment, he stopped and sought refuge in Allah, then he bowed and paused as long as he stood (reciting Surah al-Baqarah), and said while bowing, "Glory be to the Possessor of greatness, the Kingdom, grandeur and majesty." :Then he prostrated himself and paused as long as he stood up and recited Surat Aal Imran (Surah 3) and then recited many surahs one after another. قُمْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لَيْلَةً فَقَامَ فَقَرَأَ سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ لَا يَمُرُّ بِآيَةِ رَحْمَةٍ إِلَّا وَقَفَ فَسَأَلَ وَلَا يَمُرُّ بِآيَةِ عَذَابٍ إِلَّا وَقَفَ فَتَعَوَّذَ قَالَ ثُمَّ رَكَعَ بِقَدْرِ قِيَامِهِ يَقُولُ فِي رُكُوعِهِ سُبْحَانَ ذِي الْجَبَرُوتِ وَالْمَلَكُوتِ وَالْكِبْرِيَاءِ وَالْعَظَمَةِ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ بِقَدْرِ قِيَامِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ فِي سُجُودِهِ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَقَرَأَ بِآلِ عِمْرَانَ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ سُورَةً سُورَةً  

"عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: قُمْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ الله ﷺ لَيْلَةً فَبَدَأَ فَاسْتَاكَ ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ قَامَ يُصَلِّى فَقُمْتُ مَعَهُ، فَبَدَأَ فَاسْتَفْتَحَ مِنَ الْبَقَرَةِ لَا يَمُرُّ بِآيَةِ رَحْمَةٍ إِلَّا وَقَفَ يَسْأَلُ، وَلَا يَمُرُّ بِآيَةِ عَذَابٍ إِلَّا وَقَفَ فَتَعَوَّذَ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ فَمَكَثَ رَاكِعًا بِقَدْرِ قِيَامِهِ، يَقُولُ فِى رُكُوعِهِ: سُبْحَانَ ذِى الْجَبَرُوتِ، وَالْمَلَكُوتِ، وَالْكِبْرِيَاءِ، وَالْعَظَمَةِ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ بِقَدْرِ رُكُوعِهِ يَقُولُ في سُجُودِهِ: سُبْحَانَ ذِى الْجَبَروتِ، وَالْمَلَكُوت، وَالْكِبْريَاءِ، وَالْعَظَمَةِ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ آلَ عْمِرَانَ ثُمَّ سُورَةً سُورَةً يَفْعَلُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ".
