While the Prophet ﷺ was preaching a man was standing in the sun. He asked about him. They said: He is Abu Isra'il who has taken a vow to stand and not to sit, or go into shade, or speak, but to fast. Thereupon he said: Command him to speak, to go into the shade, sit and complete his fast.  

أبو داود:٣٣٠٠حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

بَيْنَمَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ إِذَا هُوَ بِرَجُلٍ قَائِمٍ فِي الشَّمْسِ فَسَأَلَ عَنْهُ قَالُوا هَذَا أَبُو إِسْرَائِيلَ نَذَرَ أَنْ يَقُومَ وَلاَ يَقْعُدَ وَلاَ يَسْتَظِلَّ وَلاَ يَتَكَلَّمَ وَيَصُومَ قَالَ مُرُوهُ فَلْيَتَكَلَّمْ وَلْيَسْتَظِلَّ وَلْيَقْعُدْ وَلْيُتِمَّ صَوْمَهُ

While the Prophet ﷺ was delivering a sermon, he saw a man standing, so he asked about that man. They (the people) said, "It is Abu Israil who has vowed that he will stand and never sit down, and he will never come in the shade, nor speak to anybody, and will fast.'' The Prophet ﷺ said, "Order him to speak and let him come in the shade, and make him sit down, but let him complete his fast."

بَيْنَمَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَخْطُبُ إِذْ رَأَى رَجُلًا قَائِمًا فِي الشَّمْسِ فَسَأَلَ عَنْهُ فَقَالُوا هَذَا أَبُو إِسْرَائِيلَ نَذَرَ أَنْ يَقُومَ فِي الشَّمْسِ فَلَا يَقْعُدَ وَلَا يَسْتَظِلُّ وَلَا يَتَكَلَّمُ وَلَا يُفْطِرُ فَقَالَ «مُرُوهُ فَلْيَقْعُدْ وَلْيَسْتَظِلَّ وَلْيَتَكَلَّمْ وَلْيَصُمْ وَلْيُفْطِرْ (*)»

[Machine] The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by Abu Isra'il while he was standing in the sun. He said, "What is the matter with him?" They said, "O Messenger of Allah, he has vowed not to speak, not to sit, and to observe fasting." So he said, "Tell him to speak, seek shade, sit and complete his fast, and he is not required to offer expiation."  

الطبراني:١٢٣٦٠حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ الرَّمْلِيُّ ثنا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ سُوَيْدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عُمَارَةَ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى أَبِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ فِي الشَّمْسِ فَقَالَ «مَا بَالُ هَذَا؟» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ نَذَرَ أَنْ لَا يَتَكَلَّمَ وَلَا يَقْعُدَ وَأَنْ يَصُومَ فَقَالَ «مُرْهُ فَلْيَتَكَلَّمْ وَلْيَسْتَظِلَّ وَلْيَقْعُدْ وَلْيُتِمَّ وَلَمْ يَأْمُرْهُ بِالْكَفَّارَةِ»
