The Prophet ﷺ said: A cow serves for seven, and a camel serves for seven.

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ الْبَقَرَةُ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ وَالْجَزُورُ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ

حَجَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَنَحَرْنَا الْبَعِيرَ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ وَالْبَقَرَةَ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ

We performed tamattu' during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, sacrificed a cow for seven and a camel for seven people. We shared them.

كُنَّا نَتَمَتَّعُ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ نَذْبَحُ الْبَقَرَةَ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ وَالْجَزُورَ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ نَشْتَرِكُ فِيهَا  

abudawud:2809 – al-Qaʿnabī > Mālik > Abū al-Zubayr al-Makkī > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh

We sacrificed along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at al-Hudaybiyyah a camel for seven and a cow for seven people.  

أبو داود:٢٨٠٩ – حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ الْمَكِّيِّ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ

أَنَّهُ قَالَ نَحَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِالْحُدَيْبِيَةِ الْبَدَنَةَ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ وَالْبَقَرَةَ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ  

ahmad:14914 – ʿAffān > Ḥammād > Qays b. Saʿd > ʿAṭāʾ > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh al-Anṣārī

“We offered sacrifices at Al- Hudaibiyah with the Prophet ﷺ, a camel on behalf of seven (people) and a cow on behalf of seven.” (Using translation from Ibn Mājah 3132)   

أحمد:١٤٩١٤ – حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ أَخْبَرَنَا قَيْسُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ نَحَرَ الْبَدَنَةَ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ وَالْبَقَرَةَ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ  

ahmad:14593 – Yūnus b. Muḥammad > ʿAbd al-Wāḥid > Mujālid b. Saʿīd > al-Shaʿbī > Jābir b. ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ declared the pig and the cow to be from the seven prohibited (types of meat).

أَنَّهُ قَالَ «نَحَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِالْحُدَيْبِيَةِ الْبَقَرَةَ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ وَالْبَدَنَةَ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ»  

tabarani:10026 – Aḥmad b. ʿAmr al-Bazzār And Muḥammad b. Mūsá al-Ubullī > ʿUmar b. Yaḥyá al-Ubullī > Ḥafṣ b. Jumayʿ > Mughīrah > Ibrāhīm > ʿAlqamah > ʿAbdullāh

[Machine] The Prophet ﷺ said, "A cow can be offered on behalf of seven (people) and a camel can be offered on behalf of seven (people) during the time of sacrifice."  

الطبراني:١٠٠٢٦ – حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْبَزَّارُ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْأُبُلِّيُّ قَالَا ثنا عُمَرُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْأُبُلِّيُّ ثنا حَفْصُ بْنُ جُمَيْعٍ عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ «الْبَقَرَةُ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ وَالْجَزُورُ عَنْ سَبْعَةٍ فِي الْأَضَاحِيِّ»  

nasai-kubra:4107 – Abū Dāwud > ʿAffān b. Muslim > Ḥammād b. Salamah > Qays > ʿAṭāʾ > Jābir

[Machine] That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sacrificed the Badana for seven people and the cow for seven people.
