Regarding the Verse: "Indeed he (Muhammad) did see. Of the Signs of his Lord, The Greatest!" (53.18) That the Prophet ﷺ had seen a green carpet spread all over the horizon of the sky.

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ؓ – {لَقَدْ رَأَى مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرَى} قَالَ رَأَى رَفْرَفًا أَخْضَرَ سَدَّ أُفُقَ السَّمَاءِ

(regarding the revelation) Truly he (Muhammad) did see of the signs of his Lord; the Greatest!' (53.18) The Prophet ﷺ saw a green screen covering the horizon.

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ؓ – {لَقَدْ رَأَى مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرَى} قَالَ رَأَى رَفْرَفًا أَخْضَرَ قَدْ سَدَّ الأُفُقَ

" Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of Allah" (al-Qur'an, liii. 18) imply that he saw Gabriel in his (original) form and he had six hundred wings.

{ لَقَدْ رَأَى مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرَى} قَالَ رَأَى جِبْرِيلَ فِي صُورَتِهِ لَهُ سِتُّمِائَةِ جَنَاحٍ

[AI] Regarding Al-A'mash's narration on Allah's statement {Indeed, he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord} [Surah An-Najm, verse 18], Ibn Mas'ud said: The Prophet ﷺ saw a green fluttering from Paradise that covered the horizon. He mentioned this from Ibrahim, from Alqamah, from Abdullah.

عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ فِي قَوْلِهِ ﷻ {لَقَدْ رَأَى مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرَى} [النجم 18] قَالَقَالَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ رَأَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ رَفْرَفًا أَخْضَرَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ قَدْ سَدَّ الْأُفُقَ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ

[AI] "Regarding this verse, 'Indeed, He has seen of the greatest signs of his Lord,' Abdullah said: 'He saw Jibril in his true form with six hundred wings.'"

عَنْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ {لَقَدْ رَأَى مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرَى} قَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ «رَأَى جِبْرِيلَ فِي صُورَتِهِ لَهُ سِتُّ مِائَةِ جَنَاحٍ»

[AI] Abu al-Walid al-Tayalisi narrated: They said: Shu'bah narrated from Sulaiman, from Ibrahim, from 'Alqamah, from Abdullah regarding His statement: "Indeed, he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord" (Quran 53:18). He said, "He saw a green curtain covering the horizon of the sky."

ثنا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ قَالُوا أَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ فِي قَوْلِهِ {لَقَدْ رَأَى مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرَى} قَالَ «رَأَى رَفْرَفًا أَخْضَرَ قَدْ سَدَّ أُفُقَ السَّمَاءِ»

[AI] About Abdullah's saying regarding "Indeed, he has seen from the signs of his Lord, the greatest." He said, "A green fluttering from Paradise that has filled the horizon."

فِي قَوْلِهِ {§لَقَدْ رَأَى مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرَى} قَالَ «رَأَى مُحَمَّدٌ ﷺ جِبْرِيلَ فِي صُورَتِهِ لَهُ سِتُّ مِائَةِ جَنَاحٍ مَا مِنْهَا جَنَاحٌ إِلَّا قَدْ سَدَّ مَا بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ»
