"I used to call the Adhan for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and in the first Adhan of Fajr I used to Say: 'Hayya 'ala al-falah, as-salatu khairun minan-nawm, as-salatu khairun minan-nawm, Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar, la ilaha illallah (Come to prosperity, prayer is better than sleep, prayer is better than sleep, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, there is none worthy of worship except Allah).'"

كُنْتُ أُؤَذِّنُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَكُنْتُ أَقُولُ فِي أَذَانِ الْفَجْرِ الأَوَّلِ حَىَّ عَلَى الْفَلاَحِ الصَّلاَةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ الصَّلاَةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ

[AI] I used to give the call to prayer during the time of the Prophet ﷺ for the Fajr prayer. When I said "Hayya 'ala al-Falah" (come to success), I would say "Prayer is better than sleep" twice, and then I would say the first adhan.

كُنْتُ أُؤَذِّنُ فِي زَمَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ فَإِذَا قُلْتُ حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ قُلْتُ الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ الْأَذَانُ الْأَوَّلُ

[AI] I used to call the azan for the Prophet ﷺ , and in the first azan of Fajr, I used to say, "Hayya 'ala as-salah, hayya 'ala al-falah, as-salah khayrun min an-nawm, as-salah khayrun min an-nawm, Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, la ilaha illallah." 1624 Amr ibn Ali informed us, he said: Yahya and Abdul Rahman informed us, they said: Sufyan reported to us with this chain of narration, Abdul Rahman ibn Mahdi said, and it is not from Abu Ja'far al-Farra.

كُنْتُ أُؤَذِّنُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَكُنْتُ أَقُولُ فِي أَذَانِ الْفَجْرِ الْأَوَّلِ «حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ» 1624 أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَهُ قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ وَلَيْسَ بِأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ الْفَرَّاءِ

[AI] I said, "O Messenger of Allah, teach me the sunnah of the Adhan and mention the Hadith in it." He said, "Call for the prayer and say: 'Hayya 'ala al-falah, Hayya 'ala al-falah.' If the morning prayer is due, say, 'As-salatu khayrun min an-nawm, as-salatu khayrun min an-nawm.' Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah."

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ عَلِّمْنِي سُنَّةَ الْأَذَانِ وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ وَقَالَ فِيهِ حِيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ حِيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ فَإِنْ كَانَ صَلَاةُ الصُّبْحِ قُلِ الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ

[AI] From the Sunnah, when the Muadhin says in the Adhan of Fajr, "Hayya 'ala al-falah" (Come to success), the Salah is better than sleep. The Salah is better than sleep. Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest. There is no deity but Allah. And thus.

مِنَ السُّنَّةِ إِذَا قَالَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ فِي أَذَانِ الْفَجْرِ حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ قَالَ الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَكَذَلِكَ

[AI] "He used to say, 'O farmer, wake up! Prayer is better than sleep. Prayer is better than sleep. In the first Adhan, it is recited twice, which means in the morning.'"

أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ حِيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ حِيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ فِي الْأَذَانِ الْأَوَّلِ مَرَّتَيْنِ يَعْنِي فِي الصُّبْحِ

[AI] "He said to his Mu'adhin, 'When you reach the call to prayer for Fajr, say prayer is better than sleep, prayer is better than sleep.'"

أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِمُؤَذِّنِهِ إِذَا بَلَغْتَ حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ فِي الْفَجْرِ فَقُلِ الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ

"إذا بَلَغْتَ حَيَّ على الفلاح فقُلْ: الصلاةُ خيرٌ من النوم".

"عَنْ طَاوُسٍ قَالَ: أَوَّلُ مَنْ ثَوَّبَ بِصَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ عَلَى عَهْدِ أَبِى بَكْرٍ بِلَالٌ، فَكَانَ إِذَا قَالَ: حَىَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ قَالَ: الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ، الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّومِ".

"عَن ابنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ عُمَرَ قَالَ لِمُؤَذِّنِهِ: إِذَا بَلَغْتَ "حَىَّ عَلَى الفَلاحِ" فِى الفَجْر، فَقُلْ: "الصَّلاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ".

" عَنْ أنَسٍ قَالَ: منَ السُّنَّة إِذَا أذَّنَ المُؤَذِّنُ فِى أذَانِ الفَجْرِ حَيَّ عَلَى الفَلاحَ قَالَ: الصَّلاَةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْم الصَّلَاَةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْم".

"عَن ابْنِ سيرِينَ، عَنْ أنَسٍ قَالَ: كَانَ التَّثْوِيبُ فِى صَلاَةِ الغَدَاةِ إِذَا قَالَ المُؤَذِّنُ حَيَّ عَلَى الفَلاَح، حَيَّ عَلَى الفَلاَح، قَالَ: الصَّلاَةُ خَيْر مِنَ النَّوْم، الصَّلاَةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْم".

"كُنْتُ أُوَذِّنُ لِرَسُولِ الله ﷺ فِى صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ فَأَقُولُ إِذَا قُلتُ فِى الأذَانِ الأوَّلِ: حَىَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاح: الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ، الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ".

" أَنْبأنَا يُونُسُ عَن الحَسَنِ وابنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَا: كَانَ التَّثْوِيبُ فِى صَلَاة الفجرِ: الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّومِ، الصَّلاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّومِ".
