سُفْيَانُ بْنُ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبَانَ الثَّقَفِيُّ

tabarani:6431al-Ḥasan b. Ḥammād b. Faḍālah al-Ṣayrafī al-Baṣrī > Abū Ḥafṣ ʿAmr b. ʿAlī > Abū ʿĀṣim > ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Yaʿlá b. Kaʿb > ʿAbdullāh b. al-Ḥakam > Ummī Umaymah > Ummihā Ruqayqah

[Machine] When the Prophet ﷺ came seeking victory in Ta'if, he entered it and was given a drink made from barley. He drank it and said to me, "O Ruqayyah, do not worship their tyrant rulers, nor pray for them." I said, "If I say that, they will kill me." He said, "If they say that to you, then say, 'My Lord is the Lord of this tyrant.' And when you pray, turn your back to it." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ left their presence. Ruqayyah's daughter told me that my brothers, Sufyan and Wahb ibn Qays ibn Aban, said, "When Thaqif embraced Islam, we went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he asked, 'What did your mother do?' We said, 'She died in the state she was left in.' He said, 'Then your mother embraced Islam.'"
