[Machine] I saw five companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who used to trim their mustaches, leave their beards, and let their upper lip hair grow. They were Abu Umamah Al-Bahili, Al-Hajjaj bin 'Amir Al-Thumali, Al-Miqdam bin Ma'dikarib, Abdullah bin Busr Al-Mazini, and 'Utbah bin 'Abd Al-Salami. They used to trim along the edge of the lip.  

الطبراني:٣٢١٨ – حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ نَجْدَةَ الْحَوْطِيُّ ثنا أَبِي ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ شُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ

رَأَيْتُ خَمْسَةً مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُمُّونَ شَوَارِبَهُمْ وَيُعْفُونَ لِحَاهُمْ وَيَصُرُّونَهَا أَبَا أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيَّ وَالْحَجَّاجَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ الثُّمَالِيَّ وَالْمِقْدَامَ بْنَ مَعْدِيكَرِبَ وَعَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ بُسْرٍ الْمَازِنِيَّ وَعُتْبَةَ بْنَ عَبْدٍ السُّلَمِيَّ كَانُوا يَقُمُّونَ مَعَ طَرَفِ الشَّفَةِ

Abu Umamah al-Bahili, Abdullah ibn Busr, Uthbah ibn Abdus-Salam, Al-Hajjaj ibn Amr ath-Thumali, and Al-Miqdad ibn Ma'dikarib al-Kindi were among them, and they used to trim their mustaches along the line of the lip.
