[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to encourage giving charity. A man would come forward and contribute, and he would bring a handful (of charity), while for some of them the amount would reach one hundred thousand on that day." His brother said, "I witnessed that he would expose himself."  

الطبراني:١٤٦٦٢ – حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ

«كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْمُرُ بِالصَّدَقَةِ فَيَنْطَلِقُ الرَّجُلُ فَيَتَحَامَلُ فَيَجِيءُ بِالْمُدِّ وَإِنَّ لِبَعْضِهِمُ الْيَوْمَ لَمِائَةَ أَلْفٍ» قَالَ شَقِيقُ فَرَأَيْتُ أَنَّهُ يُعَرِّضُ بِنَفْسِهِ

Whenever Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to give in charity we would go to the market and work as porters to earn a Mudd (two handfuls) (of foodstuff) but now some of us have one-hundred thousand Dirhams or Diners. (The sub-narrator) Shaqiq said, "I think Abu Masʿud meant himself by saying (some of us) .  

البخاري:٢٢٧٣ – حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ

عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ؓ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَمَرَ بِالصَّدَقَةِ انْطَلَقَ أَحَدُنَا إِلَى السُّوقِ فَيُحَامِلُ فَيُصِيبُ الْمُدَّ وَإِنَّ لِبَعْضِهِمْ لَمِائَةَ أَلْفٍ قَالَ مَا نُرَاهُ إِلاَّ نَفْسَهُ  

bukhari:1416 – Saʿīd b. Yaḥyá from my father > al-Aʿmash > Shaqīq > Abū Masʿūd al-Anṣārī

Whenever Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to give in charity, we used to go to the market and work as porters and get a Mudd (a special measure of grain) and then give it in charity. (Those were the days of poverty) and today some of us have one hundred thousand.  

البخاري:١٤١٦ – حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ

عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ؓ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِذَا أَمَرَنَا بِالصَّدَقَةِ انْطَلَقَ أَحَدُنَا إِلَى السُّوقِ فَتَحَامَلَ فَيُصِيبُ الْمُدَّ وَإِنَّ لِبَعْضِهِمُ الْيَوْمَ لَمِائَةَ أَلْفٍ  

bukhari:4669 – Isḥāq b. Ibrāhīm > Lʾabī Usāmah Aḥaddathakum Zāʾidah > Sulaymān > Shaqīq > Abū Masʿūd al-Anṣārī

Abu Masʿud Al-Ansari said, "Messenger of Allah ﷺ, used to order us to give alms. So one of us would exert himself to earn one Mud (special measure of wheat or dates, etc.,) to give in charity; while today one of us may have one hundred thousand." Shaqiq said: As if Abu Masud referred to himself.  

البخاري:٤٦٦٩ – حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي أُسَامَةَ أَحَدَّثَكُمْ زَائِدَةُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَأْمُرُ بِالصَّدَقَةِ فَيَحْتَالُ أَحَدُنَا حَتَّى يَجِيءَ بِالْمُدِّ وَإِنَّ لأَحَدِهِمِ الْيَوْمَ مِائَةَ أَلْفٍ كَأَنَّهُ يُعَرِّضُ بِنَفْسِهِ

ابن ماجة:٤١٥٥ – حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ
