Abu Masʿud Al-Ansari said, "Messenger of Allah ﷺ, used to order us to give alms. So one of us would exert himself to earn one Mud (special measure of wheat or dates, etc.,) to give in charity; while today one of us may have one hundred thousand." Shaqiq said: As if Abu Masud referred to himself.  

البخاري:٤٦٦٩حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَبِي أُسَامَةَ أَحَدَّثَكُمْ زَائِدَةُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَأْمُرُ بِالصَّدَقَةِ فَيَحْتَالُ أَحَدُنَا حَتَّى يَجِيءَ بِالْمُدِّ وَإِنَّ لأَحَدِهِمِ الْيَوْمَ مِائَةَ أَلْفٍ كَأَنَّهُ يُعَرِّضُ بِنَفْسِهِ

“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to enjoin charity, then one of us would go out and carry goods for others until he earned a Mudd, but one of them nowadays has one hundred thousand (Dinar or Dirham).” Shaqiq said: "It was as if he was hinting that this was he himself."

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to encourage giving charity. A man would come forward and contribute, and he would bring a handful (of charity), while for some of them the amount would reach one hundred thousand on that day." His brother said, "I witnessed that he would expose himself."  

الطبراني:١٤٦٦٢حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ

[Machine] "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to command people to give charity. A man would then go and collect provisions and come back with a mountain of donations. Indeed, some of them would give up to a hundred thousand (dirhams). A miserable brother said, 'I saw that he would expose himself.'"
