[Machine] Amr ibn Qais had a loan in pre-Islamic times, and this loan prevented him from accepting Islam until he paid it back. One day, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Uhud and asked his people, "Where is Saad ibn Muadh?" They replied, "He is at Uhud." The Prophet then asked, "Where is so-and-so?" They replied, "He is at Uhud." He asked about his people and they replied, "They are at Uhud." So he took his sword and spear, dressed for battle, and went to Uhud. When the Muslims saw him, they said, "Greetings to you, O Amr!" He replied, "I have already embraced Islam." He fought until he was killed, and then he was carried to his family as a wounded person. Saad ibn Muadh entered upon him and said to his brother, "Did you come in anger for the sake of Allah and His Messenger?" He replied, "Yes." Then he died and entered Paradise, without ever performing the prayer.

Amr ibn Uqaysh had given usurious loans in pre-Islamic period; so he disliked to embrace Islam until he took them. He came on the day of Uhud and asked: Where are my cousins? They (the people) replied: At Uhud. He asked: Where is so-and-so? They said: At Uhud. He asked: Where is so-and-so? They said: At Uhud. He then put on his coat of mail and rode his horse; he then proceeded towards them. When the Muslims saw him, they said: Keep away, Amir. He said: I have become a believer. He fought until he was wounded. He was then taken to his family wounded. Sa'd ibn Mu'adh came to his sister: Ask him (whether he fought) out of partisanship, out of anger for them, or out of anger for Allah. He said: Out of anger of Allah and His Apostle. He then died and entered Paradise. He did not offer any prayer for Allah.

When the Muslims saw him, they said to him, "Welcome, O Amr! We have become Muslims." He responded, "I have indeed embraced Islam." He fought and was injured, then was brought to his family. Sa'd ibn Muadh came to him and asked, "Did you come out of anger for the sake of Allah and His Messenger, or to protect your people?" He replied, "No, I came out of anger for the sake of Allah and His Messenger." Abu Hurairah reported, "He entered Jannah, and he did not perform a prayer except for the Muslims."
