[Machine] Amr ibn Qais had a pre-Islamic idol that prevented him from embracing Islam. One day, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his companions came to him during the Battle of Uhud and asked about Sa'd ibn Muadh. They said he was at Uhud. He asked about his brother's sons. They said they were at Uhud. He then asked about his people and they said they were at Uhud. He took his sword, spear, and armor, and wore his hooded cloak, then went to Uhud. When the Muslims saw him, they said to him, "Welcome, O Amr! We have become Muslims." He responded, "I have indeed embraced Islam." He fought and was injured, then was brought to his family. Sa'd ibn Muadh came to him and asked, "Did you come out of anger for the sake of Allah and His Messenger, or to protect your people?" He replied, "No, I came out of anger for the sake of Allah and His Messenger." Abu Hurairah reported, "He entered Jannah, and he did not perform a prayer except for the Muslims."
