[Machine] That Umar ibn Al-Khattab gave charity to a man with a horse in the path of Allah, then he found Umar selling it. So he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I gave charity to so-and-so with a horse, and I found him selling it. Should I buy it?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Do not buy it and do not count it as part of your charity."  

الطبراني:١٣٢٤٥ – حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ رَوْحُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْأَسْوَدِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ تَصَدَّقَ عَلَى رَجُلٍ بِفَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ فَوَجَدَهُ عُمَرُ يَبِيعُهَا فَأَتَى إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي تَصَدَّقْتُ عَلَى فُلَانٍ بِفَرَسٍ وَإِنِّي وَجَدْتُهُ يَبِيعُهَا أَفَأَشْتَرِيهَا؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا تَشْتَرِهَا وَلَا تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ»

I gave a horse to be used in Allah's Cause, but later on I saw it being sold. I asked the Prophet ﷺ whether I could buy it. He said, "Don't buy it and don't take back your gift of charity."

عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ حَمَلْتُ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُبَاعُ فَسَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ آشْتَرِيهِ فَقَالَ لاَ تَشْتَرِهِ وَلاَ تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ

Once I gave a horse (for riding) in Allah's Cause. Later I saw it being sold. I asked Messenger of Allah ﷺ (whether I could buy it). He said, "Don't buy it, for you should not get back what you have given in charity." (Using translation from Bukhārī 2636)   

البيهقي:٧٦٣١ – أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْفَقِيهُ أنبأ أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مَالِكَ بْنَ أَنَسٍ يَسْأَلُ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَسْلَمَ فَقَالَ زَيْدٌ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ قَالَ
