He replied: He should say: I seek refuge in Thee from the accursed devil. Mu'adh then began to ask him to do so, but he refused and persisted in quarrelling, and began to enhance his anger.
اسْتَبَّ رَجُلاَنِ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَغَضِبَ أَحَدُهُمَا غَضَبًا شَدِيدًا حَتَّى خُيِّلَ إِلَىَّ أَنَّ أَنْفَهُ يَتَمَزَّعُ مِنْ شِدَّةِ غَضَبِهِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِنِّي لأَعْلَمُ كَلِمَةً لَوْ قَالَهَا لَذَهَبَ عَنْهُ مَا يَجِدُهُ مِنَ الْغَضَبِ فَقَالَ مَا هِيَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ قَالَ فَجَعَلَ مُعَاذٌ يَأْمُرُهُ فَأَبَى وَمَحِكَ وَجَعَلَ يَزْدَادُ غَضَبًا
Two men reviled each other in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ. Then the eyes of one of them became red and his jugular veins swelled. The Apostle of Allah ﷺ said: I know a phrase by repeating which the man could get rid of the angry feelings: I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed devil. The man said: Do you see insanity in me.
اسْتَبَّ رَجُلاَنِ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَجَعَلَ أَحَدُهُمَا تَحْمَرُّ عَيْنَاهُ وَتَنْتَفِخُ أَوْدَاجُهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنِّي لأَعْرِفُ كَلِمَةً لَوْ قَالَهَا هَذَا لَذَهَبَ عَنْهُ الَّذِي يَجِدُ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ هَلْ تَرَى بِي مِنْ جُنُونٍ
[AI] Two men argued in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ and one of them became so angry that it seemed to me that his nose would twitch with anger. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I know a word that if he were to say it, his anger would go away. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from Satan, the accursed."
اسْتَبَّ رَجُلَانِ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَغَضِبَ أَحَدُهُمَا حَتَّى أَنَّهُ لَيُخَيَّلُ إِلَيَّ أَنَّ أَنْفَهُ لَيَتَمَزَّعُ مِنَ الْغَضَبِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ كَلِمَةً لَوْ يَقُولُهَا هَذَا الْغَضْبَانُ لَذَهَبَ عَنْهُ الْغَضَبُ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ
[AI] Two men argued in front of the Prophet (PBUH) and one of them became angry. The Prophet (PBUH) said, "Indeed, I know a word that, if he were to say it, his anger would go away. I seek refuge in Allah from the cursed Satan."

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ heard two men speaking to each other, and one of them became angry and his anger intensified while he was speaking. So the Prophet ﷺ said, "Indeed, I know a word that if he were to say it, his anger would go away." Then a man came to him and said, "Say: I seek refuge in Allah from Satan, the accursed." The Prophet ﷺ said, "Do you see any harm?" He said, "No, it only increased him in that."

[AI] Two men approached the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ , and one of them became very angry. The Prophet ﷺ said, "I know a word that, if he says it, his anger will go away. I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan." The man said, "Do you think I am crazy?" Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited the verse, "And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing." [Surah Fussilat, verse 36].

[AI] Two men argued in front of the Prophet ﷺ, and one of them became extremely angry. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I know a word, if he were to say it, his anger would go away. If he were to say 'I seek refuge in Allah from Satan,' his anger would go away."

[AI] The Prophet ﷺ heard two men conversing, one of them was becoming angrier and angrier. The Prophet ﷺ said, "I know a word, if he were to say it, the Satan would depart from him." The man approached the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Tell me, seek refuge in Allah from Satan."
سَمِعَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ رَجُلَيْنِ وَهُمَا يَتَقَاوَلَانِ أَحَدُهُمَا يَغْضَبُ فَاشْتَدَّ غَضَبُهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ كَلِمَةً لَوْ قَالَهَا لَذَهَبَ عَنْهُ الشَّيْطَانُ» فَأَتَاهُ الرَّجُلُ فَقَالَ قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ

[AI] The Prophet saw a man, so he mentioned a word that made him angry. He started to mutter and say things, so the Prophet said, "I know a word that if he were to say it, what he feels would go away. I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan."
أَبْصَرَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ رَجُلًا فَذَكَرَ حَرْفًا فَغَضِبَ وَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ وَيَقُولُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ كَلِمَةً لَوْ قَالَهَا لَذَهَبَ عَنْهُ مَا يَجِدُ أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ

" أَنَّ رَجُلَيْنِ تَلاَحَيَا فَاشْتَدَّ غَضَبُ أَحَدِهمَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ : إِنِّى لأَعْرِفُ كَلِمَةً لَوْ قَالَها لَذَهَبَ غَضَبُهُ، {أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيم} ".
